This original review was from 4 years ago. I am updating. I think I should clarify that. I hope they have improved over the years. That said my original review was a 1 star due to unappealing food, extended periods without being checked on, short therapy session, Spartan rooms with squeaky beds and having to wheel oneself to the dining without needed assistance. All that said no harm came to my father and no major incidents occured. This is in comparison to a recent stay at another facility. Below is the original review. My standards have softened to do no harm. My father was very disappointed with his experience at Lion’s Gate Rehab. Here is his review, as he stated it to me. “The food is terrible and only offered you two options for dinner every night, neither of which you want. The room is minimal, with a thin hospital bed mattress that is plastic and makes noise with every move you make. Care is minimal. Not rude or mean, just minimal and Neglectful (forgot to pick me up for meals while in a wheelchair. I had to wheel myself. I waited for someone to pick me up for breakfast, but no one showed up, so I wheeled myself down from my room to the luncheon area and then wheeled myself back because after an hour and no one came to pick me up to take me back to my room. This happened daily for meals.) The nursing staff was friendly enough, just not offering much to be desired. My daughter, who visited, helped me do things the nurses should have, like getting in bed at night and getting to meals. Compared to other rehabilitation places, the care here was almost nonexistent. I could sit there for hours and never see anybody aside for a pulse check every 3 hours or so. Even worse was when I had to inform the nurses that they hadn’t given me my medication which they did not realize. PT was half an hour a day. It was minimal attention, including one day when they wanted me to use an exercise bike that I had to wait over five minutes to use. I rode the bike for 15 minutes, and then my session was over, and I was sent back to my room. If this is supposed to be rehabilitation for me to get stronger and better to go home, they certainly aren’t doing much of it. Besides having a desperately terrible experience and wanting to go home right away because I was miserable there, it was a wonderful time. “ I would like to state that we felt that this review needed to be said because while the rehab was relatively clean and the staff was not abusive, improvements still need to be made to garner the reputation of excellence it is supposed to have. We gave a low review in hopes these issues will be addressed and improved for future patients. And to add, my father got much better once I brought him home. Update: My standard of neglect and poor care has recently changed due to my father being in another facility that was so bad he had to rehab longer due to injuries acquired from neglect and poor treatment at the rehab. Lion’s Gate needed work but was not nearly as bad as what we have recently experienced. For that we add a star.

Lions Gate is the best rehab for any loved one. I believe that a lot of people who have never entered a skilled nursing facility do not realize how great the care is at this facility. I have been to several rehabs in South Jersey and this is the best one by far. Both therapy and nursing go above and beyond for their patients. I would recommend to any person who needs a rehab stay to come to Lions Gate.
I want to say Hello to everyone I am the concierge for Independent living, I am so happy to be part of a wonderful team, lionsgate is family and they care so much and the dining team is so amazing, the food is great.
My 93 old dad was in the rehab for 2 weeks after spending 4 weeks in the hospital. Although the rehab team was good, the nursing and aids were horrible. Most times my dad had to wait 1 hour or more after he pressed the button for help. I believe he got a UTI after his diper were not changed regularly. I would never recommend Lions Gate for your elderly parent. Most of the nurses and aides were rude when you ask for help. I'm so sad that he was treated so poorly. Horrible place! I hope you take this feedback very seriously before you consider Lions Gate.
My 84 year old mother has been a patient in Lions Gate Rehab twice in the past year. After experiencing the lacking care in other facilities, I would not have her stay anywhere else other than Lions Gate. From start to finish her stays there have provided excellent care for her. She felt welcomed and cared for. The staff is kind, positive, helpful and responsive. Mom was comfortable and her PT and OT were top notch. There were activities for the patients that went a long way to lifting her spirits and speeding her recovery. Upon discharge Mom’s nurses, aides, and therapists all stopped by to say goodbye, give her tips for continued recovery at home and wish her well. This is without a doubt the best place in the area.
