My inlaws just moved into their new apartment after 40+ years at home. He's in good shape for his advanced age but she suffers from advancing dementia. We were looking for an assisted living facility in the Macungie area where they could be together. Luckily, this room became available when we were in town coordinating everything. With assistance from the Care facility staff next door, they are adjusting to their new surroundings. The entire staff at Lehigh have been awesome. A special shout out to the Admissions Director, Christopher. He is extremely efficient at his job. He has assisted my wife from the very beginning and is always a phone call away. He is a valuable asset to this company.

The physical neglected and mental abuse that my mother suffered at this facility ultimately contributed to her death, I believe. So many times, they administered the wrong dose of medication to my mom, and there have been times when she received the wrong medication! I've brought this to their attention so many times and it falls upon deaf ears. Also, nurses have let my mom's oxygen run out, and my mom's oxygen levels fall dangerously low. Their attitude toward taking care of residents is very lax. Once, when they neglected to give my mom her medication, her oxygen level fell so low that she had to be rushed to the hospital. No matter how many times I bring this to their attention, it is ignored. Staff have stolen items from my mom's locked room while she was in the hospital. Last week, my mother was too weak to feed herself, so my aunt (who was visiting at the time) asked an aid to help my mom eat and the aid replied that she had too many people to take care of, that she could not help my mom to eat. So my mom was not being fed. A couple days after that, she died.
This place was very good until the about 6 months ago. It was bought out by big business and since then has gone down hill. Very disappointing for the price that is paid monthly. My issue is not with the staff, they are doing the best they can. The powers to be will not hire enough staff to be able to actually run this facility. If they do hire workers they are underpaid and overworked. The workers do not stay because they are asked to do the impossible. This company is only interested in money and not in keep the residents safe or happy. I have removed my mother and will keep her at my home. She is wheel chair bound and I feel she will be safer with me than in this facility. I am fortunate that I am able to have her at home. Please re -think if you are planning on putting a loved one in this facility. I am pretty sure for the last two months there has only been one to two staff aids for 53 residents round the clock. Unimaginable !!! I do not even want to give one star but i can not leave a review with out leaving a star. So really this is a ZERO star review.
My brother and I faced with the most difficult decision regarding our parents' safety, care and quality of life during COVID-19. Both of them had serious cognitive disorders and weren't safe to live independently in their home. We tried many different tactics including a person caregiver, moving closer, checking on them several times a day but it just wasn't enough. We feared something was going to happen. Thankfully both our parents were in agreement they needed to move and that's when we contacted Kris at Lehigh Commons we felt heard regarding our concerns. Kris quickly, and respectfully provided us with directive assistance. Our parents moved adjusting to their new environment and people. The staff cared for them like family, listened, laughed, and offered them individual care developed and tailored to their unique needs. They ensured my parents spent time together even during the pandemic. They created a new home that offered them quality of life. We are grateful both our parents shared their final journey together, in a warm caring family environment where they received outstanding care and attention. I would highly recommend anyone who is struggling to make a decision regarding their family's safety, independence, and quality of life to contact Lehigh Commons for guidance, care and peace of mind. They gave our entire family a place to feel safe and enjoy all of our time together. Thank you, Lehigh Commons Administration, therapy and nursing services. I cannot begin to share how impressed and relieved I am to have chosen Lehigh Commons memory care. Every single staff member there is friendly, professional and kind not only to my mother but to me and our family. They take excellent care of my mother and truly stay on top of things and make every effort to provide the best possible care. I know I chose the best place for my mom. 5 stars all the way around! 🏆
