On Friday at 4:20 pm, I arrived at LSP to find my quadriplegic sister sitting at the nursing station in her wheelchair. I questioned the charge nurse about the duration of her stay in the wheelchair and was informed that it had been since 1 pm. I further inquired about her care, including whether she had been changed and fed. The Director of Nursing Maya, exited her office, inquiring about my identity. Upon introducing myself as the resident's sister, she listened to my concerns but responded defensively, presenting their perspective. This led to a confrontation at the nursing station. As the Director of Nursing and I exchanged heated words, Administrator Debra walked by without intervening or expressing concern. She did not contact me or my family regarding the altercation or concerns. In contrast, the social worker, Gelene, approached me to offer support and calm the situation. I appreciated her professional and empathetic demeanor towards families and residents. I am requesting that my sister be removed from this facility.
My brother was recently cared for in the skilled nursing part of the facility. The nurses truly cared about him and did everything they could to make him as comfortable as possible. They never made me feel they were to busy to answer my questions.
I can't say enough positive things about this rehab. When my dad arrived 14 days ago, he couldn't even sit up. (He had a massive heat stroke which almost killed him. After 2 weeks in the hospital, he was transferred to Lees Summit Place. I visited him this morning and he has made so much positive progress! He has enjoyed his therapy and is able to walk (assisted by a walker). We didn't expect that outcome in such a short timeframe! Every single employee has been kind, supportive and highly skilled. The staff goes far beyond the basics - they have been truly caring, encouraging and friendly. Just truly good people that are purpose driven. The center is clean and he got a full shower and shave today. I am looking forward to seeing how much more he can accomplish before his discharge. I am so grateful for the entire team and facility caring for my dad. 💗 Trust them with your recovery or that of your family member.
My 93-year-old father spent several weeks here following a hospital stay to gain back strength and recover from several issues. The therapists did a great job helping him. At 93, it's difficult to gain back lost strength, but their approach, patience, and hard work enabled him to do so. Special shout out to Gelene, Bree, and "T". All were extremely helpful and wonderful to my father and my sister and me as we navigated through his rehab. We recommend LS Place for any rehab needs.
