This place is great, one of the cleaner retirement homes. Great residents. I have mixed feelings about the staff. Some of which are amazing and very helpful, versus the other half are pretty snobby, seem to be lazy and not have retained much knowledge about the care they are providing possibly because the staff are younger. One night we waited almost an hour for assistance, which came when we were finished. Then when they did show up they acted as if it wasn’t their job to provide the help and care needed. Some of the staff talk to the employees like they are children which I find very disrespectful. Hopefully these things can be addressed, if so this would be a great place to work and house family member knowing their health and safety matters.

My family and I have been so grateful for the support and patience from Lakehouse during my Grandmother's transition into an assisted living community. Staff is committed to quality care, resident engagement and continued upgrades to the facility. It's such a relief to know their kindness, support, and caring communication is on our team. We think Lakehouse Kalamazoo is a great place for Grandma to call home! 💚
The staff at Lake House has been wonderful to work with. The care and attention they have given my mom has been very good. I live in another town away from my mom, the Lake House staff’s open, timely and frequent communication with me has been outstanding when care adjustments have been needed. Mom has made many new friends at the facility with the staff’s encouragement. Overall we are very happy with the quality of care at Lake House.
We cannot say enough about the Lakehouse staff that became like family to my dad and I. They showed true compassion and provided unwavering support right up through my dad's passing. Since the change in ownership and management of the facility we continued to see great changes taking place. They provide in-facility events, themed events, and activities as well as outings for residents that are able to do so. They worked in partnership with my dad's hospice team which provided us with such peace of mind. If I were to be asked by the new owners what they might continue to work towards, I would mention the weekend staffing. Having a weekend team that has enough people to provide the same opportunities and response time that occurs during the week days would be fabulous. I don't mean to imply that the Mon-Fri staff should do that, they need time to be with their own family and friends. Perhaps an extra fully staffed team that could continue the quality work that their colleagues do during the week. Finding quality, consistent and compassionate assisted living care is incredibly difficult. However, without hesitation, I would choose Lakehouse of Kalamazoo again.
My father was in LakeHouse in Michigan and I live in Idaho. I didn’t know my father had been admitted to hospice for 3 full days. Once I did, I was able to call and talk to the staff and they were wonderful. My father’s care was exceptional. He was comfortable, cared for, and eased into life’s next stage. Thank you. There is one person I’d like to thank from the bottom of my heart for her care of my father and also of me. Being 2009 miles away, that meant everything to me. Her name is Jennifer and she’s a priceless gem. I had several occasions to speak with her and was so comforted. Her words, I’ll never forget. They were the best last words I heard when my father passed. But throughout his stay, she was steady as a rock for me and I am eternally grateful to Jennifer. Thank you Jennifer, for being there when I needed you most.
