I have been a resident for over 7 years. All my needs have been met by the caring staff. 24 hour security is tight. 24 hour nursing staff available. The food is excellent with many choices. We have many church services, activities and movies. I can walk distances outside and interior halls. I will continue to live in the independent apartments and then, if necessary I’m the Bridge. In other words I love being here. Madeline Farrell. Apt. 305

They treat employees like they opinion doesn’t matter you get in trouble for speaking concerns or asking questions they do not have what’s best for the residents mindset at all. The two people who runs this place are bullies if you do or don’t do something that they don’t like they play with your schedule like how old are we. And please don’t challenge them by questioning them oh they will call the whole shift in the office to reprimand them smh and if your loved one don’t have family visiting much if reconsider that. Other wise employees are awesome well some and residents are great. But management is worse I seen since I moved here and guess I got short end because my skin don’t match theirs.
Is it wrong to say you envy your parents living at Lake Pointe Landing? Delicious meals delivered to their door (during covid), wine and cheese offerings, snacks, movies, exercise classes, a well stocked library and cleaning services? My parents chose Lake Pointe Landing after looking at many other communities and I'm thrilled they did. The staff is caring, supportive and great at communicating. The property is beautiful. My parents are happy living there so I'm a happy daughter!
Originally we felt this place was great. The Harbor independent living appears to be a lovely facility, and we were promised great things. When we told them my mother was Type 1 diabetic with some memory issues and sometimes needs some assistance with her insulin pump, we were told that they were comfortable with helping her with an insulin pump when she needed it, which is why we chose the place. They reassured us of their willingness to help and their expertise with helping Type 1 diabetics. Apparently, LPL just told us what we wanted to hear in order to get our business. When my mom did begin to need regular assistance and had a temporary setback due to a short-term illness (she was still living independently but did need assistance with her medication/ insulin), they went back on their promises and just 3 months after she moved in, they abruptly gave us a 30 day notice and told us they would no longer help with her medication. They truly made promises they did not keep. They did not handle her situation with empathy or care, they did not listen to her family, they did not seek medical advice. They just told her to get out in 30 days. They will make it sound like you will be able to easily transition to the Bridge, assisted living if you need to, but just know that if you have any physical or cognitive trouble down the road, you will be asked to leave in 30 days, and there is actually usually a several months to a year long waiting list for assisted living. Some employees were wonderful and kind with my mom. But one nurse and the director Rita Hood definitely lacked empathy. The director Rita and even the corporate director did not take into consideration resident and family concerns. They didn't treat our family with kindness and understanding or a spirit of working together. They didn't listen to the recommendations of my mother's doctor or consult medical opinions when they made their decisions. They don't have a clear assessment and evaluation policy for taking residents, and so they make promises they cannot keep. My mother lost so much money and went through so much physical and mental stress as a result of moving to Lake Pointe Landing, having promises broken, and being forced to move again in just a few months' time. If you can guarantee there will be no physical or mental issues the rest of your or your loved one's life (and if you are not a Type 1 diabetic and have no memory issues), maybe this place will be fine for your or your loved ones. However, I would caution people before entering into an agreement with Lake Pointe Landing. Other than two kind nurses and a nice front desk staff, it was a very negative experience for my mother and my family. I wouldn't recommend this facility.
Having been on waiting lists at several retirement communities in the area so I was pleased last summer when I was able to move into a patio home , which is definitely what I wanted for my companion (A Mason Hamlin Grand Piano) and myself. Of importance to me since I do not have a mechanical "gene," the maintenance is top-notch . You put in a request and it is taken care of within hours. Also, the front desk staff is extremely helpful answering the questions you have as a new resident. They are going through difficulties hiring enough staff for indoor evening dining so there are grumbles about picking up your meal before 4:30 , but hopefully this will ease by the summer when college students again are available.
