I am writing to let you know how much I appreciate Anthony Burgess and his incredible contributions to Knollwood and its residents. When I first encountered Anthony, his polite demeanor and well-put-together appearance stood out. He radiates positivity with a smile that is truly contagious, brightening the atmosphere for everyone around him. His approachable nature and genuine kindness make him an invaluable asset to our community. I recently visited my loved one in the Health Services Center, and I must admit I felt pretty frustrated. However, my interaction with Tony transformed my mood entirely. His knowledge of the community and warm, welcoming presence provided me with comfort and reassurance. By the time I left the main entrance, I felt uplifted and grateful for his positive impact on my day. Anthony is undoubtedly a jewel in the Knollwood family, and I am sure many others have experienced the benefits of his dedication and spirit. His commitment to enriching the lives of residents and visitors alike is commendable and deserves recognition. Thank you for fostering such a wonderful community and for having remarkable individuals like Anthony as part of it. Warm regards, Barabra

This review is not about the community but about its excellent backyard in the winter. After a snow, the hillside becomes one of the best sled hills around. Excellent sledding though you have to watch for the trees.
I was lucky enough to stay in the Knoll House itself via family connections for a funeral. It felt like I was minor royalty. The nursing home part of the property felt like an average nursing home. Adequate but not exactly great.
My parent has complained a lot about the management here. The rents get raised more than inflation. The pool and hot tub don’t work. The roofs have been needing replacement for 7 years. People have had multiple leaks in their units. They have trash cans to collect water in the hallways. The AC in the halls has been broken for 4 months. The people living there are afraid of going downstairs. I heard my parent and someone in the hall talking about how you don’t want to go down there. They really need to make their downstairs a better place. It’s hard to believe, but I heard they bring food near people downstairs, but not close enough to where they can eat it. They don’t have enough help down there. The management needs to communicate with the people there more. Lots of frustration and there seems to be nowhere for the people to communicate it to management.
My elderly friends unfortunately choose to move to Knowllwood in DC. After many months living at Knollwood: there was a fire drill, no one told them where to go, they were left in a waiting area for nearly an hour, no one came to get them or tell them what to do, where to go. The size of apartment they chose on paper was much larger that what they were sold. There were cases of Covid spread from the dining room area, but people were allowed to gather without masks. There are classes and group activities. What I have seen was very poor overpriced references. My friends were pointed to a roofer who charged $16,000 to put on a new roof on the house they were selling while other identical houses cost $10,000. The referral mover cost $15,000 for a move of less than 5 miles and packing help at $65 an hour. And to top it off the suggested a real estate agent who did not put the property on MLS, did not put a for sale sign out front, and sold the home which was nearly 1000sf larger for $500,000 less than a nearly identical property in the same week. The monthly charges are $5,000 after payment of $900,000 for the small apartment. The size of apartment was misrepresented to begin with. It all seems like financially motivated elder abuse. My opinion is that Knowllwood is now questionable at best for vulnerable elderly residents.
