I was a patient at King David for three months recovering from a fractured foot. I read the reviews before I chose King David and thought I was choosing a place that offered quality service and a good place to heal. For the most part it was a decent place to heal and to regain my ability to walk. The Physical and Occupational Therapists were excellent. It was always a joy to see their smiling faces and positive attitudes. I appreciated their determination and support to get me walking again. Unfortunately, it wasn't the same with some of the aides/GNA staff. Some of them were wonderful, very kind and caring and others were harsh and rude and showed little or no respect for us as patients who were healing or for residents who were now calling King David home. We were awakened pretty much every morning on the Bonnie View section with staff who found cursing as their daily greeting to each other and to awaken us up out of a peaceful rest. It was really disturbing to my soul that they had no regard for their elders, or for the sick patients they were there to serve. I complained to the Director and also suggested his staff could use sensitivity training. Nothing was done about it at that time. The rehabilitation area of the facility, looks amazing. All modern, and quiet, like the kind of place you want to put your loved one or to be there yourself to go through your own healing experience. I never encountered any disrespectful aides, or heard anyone cursing at a patient or resident like on Bonnie View. The food was pretty much disgusting on a daily basis and wasn't eaten by many residents or patients. Some of us had family members who could bring us food, so that helped a lot, but not many would come first thing in the morning, so we had to eat those disgusting eggs and bread hard enough to put a hole in the wall. The activities were great! It was fun to play bingo, word games, watch movies and have time with other residents in a happy, positive environment. We all looked forward to that. Church services didn't work well for me. Everyone is not equipped to minister to people. Weekends were always short staffed. GNA's would complain often that they had too many people assigned to take care of so if we needed to be changed..."oh well we would have to wait until they finished all the other 14 or 16 patients who needed changing". I felt badly for some of the staff who really had good intentions and would come in with positive attitudes, but by the middle of their shift they would be worn out because they had too many people to care for. Being short staffed was a regular thing at King David, but it didn't seem to matter. They still took in more people to fill their beds even with no staff to care for them. Even if the staff is overworked...please don't take it out on the sick and elderly. King David has an excellent therapy staff, physical and occupational and nursing staff too, most of them. And also a really wonderful Rabbi who took time daily to visit and talk with us and assist where needed. Ringing the bell for assistance was often ignored. Staff would be outside our door laughing and talking about what was going on in their personal life and totally ignore our bell ringing. We would often sit for long periods of time, with a diaper full of "poop" hearing them talking, and they would not step into our room and ask what it is we needed. Supposed we were having a heart attack. King David is not perfect by a long shot, and I have no other place to compare it to. I have heard its the same in other nursing and rehab facilities around Maryland. Shame on the Health Care System. If you chose King David, please check on your loved ones and listen when they tell you their rights are being violated, they have no one else but you to help them. Thanks King David for the time you gave me to heal, and for making sure I have continued support at home. I pray this review will open your eyes to some things that could use your attention to make it a better place to stay. Blessings. ZB

The dietary department is awful. They don’t listen to dietary needs unless confronted directly, They fix it for one or two rotations, and then it goes back to the wrong foods, Severe weight loss while there was also an issue due to lack of adhering to the diet.My dad is left wet and unattended for long periods of time, Management listens and cajoles when confronted about issues, and continually seem surprised when issues continue, There is a lack of continuity when it comes to physical an occupational therapy, My dad was overdosed on medication because there was no communication with his doctors. He was taken to the ER, and sent back to this place for another few weeks of lack of genuine attendance by those in charge. If your loved one goes there, a watchful at all times by you is a necessity.
Receptionist Sydney was very hospitable. All the staff were most welcoming. Great cleanliness was evident throughout the rehab center. I liked the spacious rooms. My friend, the patient, received a nice supper of soup, a hot dog, baked beans, cole slaw, juice and a dessert of some kind. She was pleased. I had a good visit. I’ll be back to see her next week.
This was a wonderful place to work I love all the staff and resident . Everyone was so friendly and welcoming the residents that I had came across it was nice to talk to them and listen to their stories about their lives. I would not mind coming back to visit them again I love it .
I visited several times to see my loved one. The entrance was inviting. Check in process was easy. The receptionist was friendly. Lots of daily activities. My loved one raves about her doctor, PT and OT. They are very supportive and encouraging. Her room was large and clean. It's really cold in the room. Linens are changed nearly every day and bed is made. Concerns about the dietary restrictions were addressed but not rectified. Food missing off her tray. Concerns about the toilet leaking urine on the floor have gone unaddressed for over a week according to my loved one. Some of the GNAs are sarcastic and doing the minimum. My loved one asked staff if they could have a sheet on the floor to soak up urine but was denied. Her footies get wet and when asked for a clean pair, was told she was issued one pair on admission this she would not receive a clean pair. This is concerning 😟. Otherwise, it's been a positive experience for my loved one who is looking to come home.
