The staff - as a whole - possesses an incredible level of professionalism. The team strikes a crucial balance with the level of care they provide and just the right amount of personalization. Much like Olive Garden, when you're there, you are Family!

I can not say enough good things about this facility: My mom was in assisted living for a short time then moved to the Cove Memory Care. In 3 years I have not complained once, they have taken excellent care of my mom. The staff is compassionate and provides excellent care! The leadership team is also fabulous and ensure high standards of love and care. The facility is clean, very home-like and provides fun celebrations and activities year round. My mom is a Veteran and she was absolutely thrilled with the Veterans Day recognition and program for families. Five stars!!!
I’m typing this while my mother in law is in the hospital recovering from a medical event. After a serious fall several years ago, we started looking at Assisted Living facilities for my MIL in the Charlotte area. A former employee suggested we look at Kempton (Formerly Harbor Chase). It was the first place we looked at and our initial reports were favorable— low employee turnover, staff who seemed to enjoy working there, residents who genuinely seemed to care about each other and of course a nice facility and strong management. We were able to keep my MIL at her home with with a private caregiver for a couple of years until her needs became too great. We looked at every reputable facility in the Charlotte area. Many were more showy and had fancier brochures/facilites but none gave us the sense of comfort that Kempton did. At Kempton, we have found caring, accessible and responsive staff from the receptionist to the director. They held our hands as we brought her reluctantly to the facility. Staff gave us progress updates and coached us how to support her through the transition. Just today (on a Sunday when I believe he is “off”) Nick took our call on his cell to hear how she was doing and discuss next steps. The sweetest part is that my MIL kept asking today when she could go back to Kempton (not to her home where she lived for years). She wanted her table buddies to know she was okay and missed the staff. It was an affirmation that we had made the right choice.
Some may have had a good experience, we did not. I feel we were completely misrepresented during the initial tour. The executive director did a great job on selling all the wonderful things she said they did and provided, she did her job “wining and dining us”. After a miserable year of my dad being there, we realize how fake she was and couldn’t be happier with the new place he is in. Again, some may have a great experience. I would advise you if you are considering Harbor Chase at this location to be very vigilant on medications and keep track of everything (pictures included). Beware when you question things, they don’t like that. They also do not like their Alzheimer’s residents to be combative (isn’t that part of the disease????) They have a 2 strikes and your out policy which we were reminded of constantly. Do your research! There are better places that take much better care of their residents. My dad was there for a year and they never gave him a shower, my mom had to do it, they said he refused. The new place had him in the shower in less than 24 hours. We have learned that it’s all about the approach with dementia and Alzheimer’s patients. The staff was mostly nice, however they didn’t want to be there and it was obvious. My mom did everything and with the amount of money it costs, she shouldn’t have. It’s been such a blessing being out of there!
Beautiful, clean and safe environment; there’s a very welcoming atmosphere, a feeling of belonging; staff members, each in their respective roles, are warm, caring and supportive; residents are encouraged to have fun and participate in a variety of activities and outings;
