4101 Kaywood Pl, Mt Rainier, MD 20712, United States
Kaywood was my first time renting on my own (2022 - 2024). I was commuting to downtown DC and this was all I could afford for the first year of my job. The apartments are very old with thin walls, outdated appliances, and cheap paint and blinds. The lock on the door to the front of the building was broken 80% of the time and kids would break in to smoke in the basement. We had a previous tenant squat in the basement for months. I could hear him snoring from my room - it was so unsettling. I called the cops 3 times to get him removed. The building never permanently fixed the door. The moisture in the bathroom caused mold on the walls and the paint would constantly peel. I had it repainted multiple times a year - never permanently fixed. When I first moved in, the carpet took several vacuums for several days straight to get all of the dirt out. I also had mice in my apartment. The washer and dryer in the basement was awful and it was so inconvenient to pay with coins. The only good thing about this place was the free parking, affordable rent, and proximity to DC. Still, I would never suggest this place and it is definitely worth paying to live closer to the city or pay more to have a newer, better managed apartment.

They have an issue with not having the property trash receptacles. Wide open garbage bins piled up with garbage which of course brings rats, raccons and birds. They need to have larger industrial bins that can house the large amounts of garbage.
Water got into my apartment through the outside walls. My apartment from roof to floor was wet, bubbles of water and paint fell off. I reached out multiple times to get it fixed. They always said someone fixed it but yet it was never fixed. Thankfully my lease was almost up but for one crayon stain and carpet stain I got charged a $500 fee and sent to collection. Worse management ever. Place is cheap, nice and great location but they will bust your pockets with the smallest thing when they can’t even fix their issues. Oh plumbing was bad I had to get someone to fix it on my end because they would never come out.
I’ve been here for almost 2 years continuous mold, water damage and paint pilling . They paint over all the damages so it just keeps coming back. Maintenance and exterminators just walk in your home no notification. I have a video of the exterminator just opening cabinets in my home and spraying my cooking pots. You complain to leasing and they tell you it’s nothing they can do. At one point the cold water was off for a couple of days. The price is nice but it’s not worth it. They do not respect their tenants.
I moved in about 3 weeks ago and I'm so upset I'm PISS OFF. First lets talk about the funky mold smell that they try to mask with air freshers. This is a very old property and there's a strong mold smell, it's very strong and it comes from the basement and enters the apartments. I complain about the smell to the management, I sit down with the property manager and maintenance manager, they came to my apartment to looking for water........smh, all alone saying they didn't smell anything, which is a lie or they are immune. There's a coat closet by the front door, I had to removed my jackets and coats because of the smell. I like my apartment but can't stand the constant funky mold smell, I have to constant spray, it's horrible. RUN RUN as fast as you can away from this property, RUN RUN.
