It feels like home as soon as you walk into Karolwood Gardens. Its been one of the best jobs I've had since my military service. They value the residents as well as the family and friends that visit daily. Shannon, our extraordinary Administrator, works day and night to ensure everyone, from residents to staff members are taking care of. As a veteran, I was truly amazed by the ceremony Shannon and the Activities Director Brie prepared in order to acknowledge all the military service members that reside and work here for Veteran's Day. It was a good time and very much appreciated by everyone. Overall the family atmosphere, the smiling faces, warm reception, the residents themselves and the wonderful staff members that go above and beyond everyday is the reason why your loved ones are in good hands here at Karolwood.

Karelwood Gardens, with its outstanding and compassionate staff, has been such a lifesaver for our family. Karolwood has given us such a sense of relief since we moved the matriarch of our family there. Their attentive, hands on approach to caring for the residents is what we truly appreciate. Shannon Fox, the building director, is the personification of compassion. I have personally witnessed her taking time out of her busy day to set aside whatever administrative task she might be working on to see to the needs of any resident. I highly recommend Karolwood to anyone needing a safe and secure place to reside.
was a previous employee here & this is the worst facility I have ever worked at. I am surprised shannon is still the administrator here. The building is old and rusty, medication was not passed properly, cna didn’t care about the residents well being, residents went hrs without being changed. residents had falls everyday. As an employee our money checks were late as well as worked hrs being taken away without telling. The whole building is a fiasco. most of these reviews are from previous staff. I guess shannon insisted the rating go up. I recently called on behalf of a friend of mine & got the worst tone from shannon. truly terrible place.
Karolwood Gardens has a welcoming, friendly staff. When I visit my friend’s mom, I can see that her individual needs are taken care of with care and compassion. Shannon, the director, goes above and beyond to see that her family members have any and all questions answered. Her vast knowledge and experience eases concerns as they arise. I recommend you visit Karolwood Gardens.
Yes! Heather was horrible, but I've not seen her and this is a good thing. I believe, if she IS still working there, she's working remotely. I have high marks for the Karolwood Gardens in Norfolk. The activity director, Bree, is an angel who keeps the residents alert with interesting and creative activities. The staff in memory care do care for the residents. Medication is given in a timely manner, and the director, Ms. Carter is pleasant and informative, keeping family members abreast of each resident. I've also spoken to the owner, and I believe he is an honest and caring man who tries to run the assisted living business in an honorable way. I highly recommend Karolwood. Dr. Linda Marcel, Ed.D.
