I was blessed to visit at the Kamana Senior Center with my mom and met the most amazing people. I love listening too and talking with our Kupuna (elderly parents, uncles and aunties, a term of redpect we use for all our elders). They were singing Karaoke that night, Japanese, Country, Oldies and a few pop songs. They were full of life and enjoying themselves immensely whole constantly trying to stuff my brother and I with food. 🤣🤣 I loved every minute. If you ever move to Hilo or visit and would like doing some crafts, classes or karaoke, I would come here. For those who love and respect our senior community please volunteer. These people are gold! P.S. the garden and tropical forest out back is beautiful, peaceful and full of life. Great place to ground yourself.
The county could do a better job by letting the union workers go
Excellent caring staff along with a well maintained facility. Lots of activities for Kupuna ( Seniors over 55) from hula to tennis and too many well taught classes to enroll in and keep active to mention. Located in Hilo off of Kinoole Street. Enjoy !
Kamana Senior Center My grandmother used to be a student here and I am so thankful to the staff and teachers at Kamana. She took lauhala making and an afternoon exercise class. My understanding of their program is to keep seniors healthy by providing them with a place to go to learn or practice skills daily. The facility is well staffed and maintained well. From what I have seen hundreds of people partake in this program at this center. Thank you to Kamana and thank you to the teachers
