Two-night stay at Julian's Gold Rush Inn had to have been one the BEST times my Wife and I have had the Pleasure of enjoying. Cozy, nostalgic and the best getaway to experience the Beautiful small town of Julian and it's Hospitality. Greeted by Chris with the UTMOST SINCERE FRIENDLINESS immediately removed any doubt we may have had since it was our First Stay. The incredible First IMPRESSION was followed by two days of the MOST RELAXING and MUCH NEEDED TIME to SPEND TOGETHER. The place only has 16 Rooms with a separate Honeymoon Suite/Room. It is an old Building and the rooms are Small with NO elevator, so prepare yourself for that when checking in and out. BREAKFAST is served between 8am-9:30am and you are asked if you have dietary allergies or preferences. This is NOT A BUFFET and you DO NOT ORDER from a MENU. The Breakfast was AMAZING as we had Eggs Florentine on first morning and Waffles the second as the main entree'. Both days began with beverage (coffee, tea, juice), a multi-grain cereal, yogurt and fruit. It was served by a host employee, we had the pleasure of having Lisa serve us and she was just as friendly as Chris. We shared a table that sat four each day with a different couple and made for great conversation. The room’s bathroom was small but efficient and there was an extra bathroom upstairs for all guests if needed. Two areas provide games and puzzles as the sounds of old 40's Big Band music played softly in the background creating a relaxing atmosphere. We WILL DEFINITELY BE BACK but most of ALL we will ALWAYS RECOMMEND FRIENDS and RELATIVES as well.

Wonderful experience here! Connie and Dick greeted us warmly when we arrived. Dick opened up the dining room a little earlier for us to have tea or coffee and played Frank Sinatra music while we chatted with him. The comfortable lobby gave us a peaceful feeling and we did a lot of reading. Didn't miss television at all! The decor reminded us of my late mother in law's Fallbrook house; peaceful!
Very original and nostalgic place to stay in Julian. We stayed in the Honeymoon cottage (Even though we were not on our honeymoon.) Very nice furnishings and decor. Extremely effective and visually wonderful gas stove. Rooms include an excellent breakfast. Lobby area and breakfast area like being in a 1920-1930 hotel. Music followed through with that nostalgic theme. My only issue was the old fashioned tub/shower. They look nice, but hard to use. And no hotel parking. You park on the street. After about 4pm in the afternoon parking is not a problem. Location was great. Very good food /restaurants close walking distance. Be sure to go into the Wolf rescue building a 1/2 block away from the hotel.
Julian is one of most special places in all of southern California. The town is adorable, clean, historic and the people are very nice. They keep the town as original as possible its a gem. If you get a chance to go there are plenty of places to stay this one is fantastic! Love the history
PCT hiker. Got a hitch into town from Jeff. He recommended this and I couldn't have been happier. Love the old timey vibes of the lobby and dining room. Challais, the host, was very nice and made sure I got the PCT discount. I tried and loved all her food recommendations. I loved the vibes so much I would enjoy hanging out in the small lobby reading National Geographic. They serve breakfast (like actually serving you breakfast and not a motel buffet). The hotel is literally on main street so I spent the day eating and checking out the shops for resupplies. I couldn't have asked for a better zero day from the hike.
