An 82 year old nursing home resident suffering with Alzheimer’s Dementia was kept in the same diaper for 23.5 hours beginning on Wednesday, April 17. Due to her illness, the resident cannot perform ADLs (Activities of Daily Living) and is completely reliant on care staff including nurses and CNAs (Certified Nursing Assistants). At 7:51 p.m. on Wednesday, the resident was readied for bed after her weekly shower. By 7:16 p.m. the following evening the resident was still wearing the same diaper. Upon reviewing video recordings from the in-room camera, the daughter contacted the on-duty nurse to inquire about care status. The nurse claimed that the resident had refused care. Additional review of camera footage revealed that the resident was not offered care by the on-duty CNA — even after the daughter expressed concern. It wasn’t until the daughter informed the nurse that the resident hadn’t been changed in nearly 24 hours that the nurse instructed the CNA to change the resident. - this true story happened at Mozaic Senior Life located in Bridgeport CT, formally known as The Jewish Home
The quality of the care and staff was mostly subpar. A care plan was never done on my Mom. I witnessed an aid yelling at a patient, when I reported it nothing was done. I asked to have my Mom moved, I was told there was no rooms available, when I said I was leaving they found a room. Concerns went unanswered. They were understaffed and it showed in the care and cleanliness. When I discuss this with the administrator, I was told they were not understaffed but they were raising the monthly fee $1000 to $19,500. Don’t be fooled by the marketing and new building. Since leaving I have heard the same concerns from other caregivers. The residents are afraid to complain because they’re afraid of the backlash.
this place is so unprofessional! they had CNA training posted on the website for about a month and every time i called to get in contact with the hiring manager no one would answer. I even got a hold of her personal number and she didn’t didn’t pick up not once! don’t come here you’ll waste your time.
A very caring staff and excellent for rehab and hospice. My only complaint is that not all home care workers are acceptable.
