My in laws moved to Sunrise (now Ivy Park) in 2016 and an aunt (my mother in laws sister) moved to memory care in 2023. The transition to an assisted living home is difficult for so many reasons - loss of independence, loss of home, health and mobility challenges. And its difficult for their families, too, as they try to support their loved ones and balance independence with safety. Over the almost 9 years we've walked this road with Ivy Park, there have - of course - been ups and downs, including COVID, hospitalizations, falls, and just trying to navigate all that we don't know about each new stage of growing older. At the same time, staffing and running a 24x7 facility in one of the most expensive areas in the country is a challenge for Ivy Park, as well. We've been really happy with our experience with Ivy Park, primarily because the leadership team and staff has always been open with communication and willing to talk through difficult situations, residents are well cared for and as busy as they want to be, and the staff are caring and work hard to create a homey environment. We really liked the size - its a smaller building (compared with many larger properties) so you quickly get to know everyone and they know you. WIth 9 years experience in eldercare as a "customer" - I can assuredly say that no assisted living facility (or hospital, or rehab, or skilled nursing facility) is going to be perfect every second of every 24 hour day. It's a staff intensive business and people aren't perfect. My perspective is that if you find an assisted living facility that communicates transparently, with staff that is experienced, knowledgeable, and caring, and that works with you to find the solutions that meet your loved one's needs today, that is the best case scenario. We have found that at Ivy Park - and we've pretty happy with the transition in ownership from Sunrise to Ivy Park - we find it better in almost every way, especially in daily activities and outings, leadership and billing. Thanks for bringing back the van! As some reviews have pointed out, this location doesn't have much outdoor space, so outings are so important.

My mom moved in earlier last year. She was younger, so it was a challenging change of environment at first, but she grew to love it there. The staff is friendly and took care of my mom until she passed. The caregivers treated my mom so well - they truly treated her like a friend. Meg, the Director, was so empathetic, caring, and lovely. She truly cared about my concerns. Becky, receptionist, was also very kind and caring. Lidia, Patty, Steven, Brittney were AMAZING caregivers/med techs that treated my mom so well. Towards the end, Ivy Park La Jolla communicated efficiently with the hospice company my mom used. My mom passed from cancer towards the end of last year and I'm not sure what I would've done without Ivy Park La Jolla. They gave my mom an amazing last few months of her life. Thank you
When my mom needed to move to assisted living this year, we looked at many places and Ivy Park La Jolla was the only one my mom felt comfortable at. The Executive Director Meg has been outstanding to work with- super responsive and communicative and she helped us get my mom settled in on a very accelerated timeline. Meg is extremely responsive to resident needs and we've been impressed so far!
We toured this lovely community for my Parents recently and were highly pleased with what we saw. It was clean, bright and seemed very welcoming to my Husband and I. While we were there, the staff were having an activity upstairs with some of the residents. We were surprised to see the residents doing flower arranging with fresh flowers. It was nice to see something other than bingo going on. We also met a few of the staff working that day and they all seemed friendly and courteous. We will be bringing our family back soon. If you are looking for your own family member, we would recommend a visit here.
Sunrise LaJolla has a great home like feel and a high level of care. We have been in 3 other senior living facilities as our parents’ needs have increased over time and the feel at Sunrise is far better than any we have experienced. Management went to great lengths to help us with our decision, put no pressure on us and assisted us greatly with our move. All staff have been truly helpful and are motivated to help each resident every day. The smaller size of the facility also allows management and staff to get to know and focus on each resident to a higher degree than other places. Sunrise LaJolla has our strong recommendation for anybody looking for a positive and safe environment for their older family members!
