Do not hesitate to call Insight Memory Care Center with questions or concerns about memory/cognitive issues with your loved one(s). We were referred by our medical provider(s), but you can call on your own, and a representative there will answer your questions, or find the resources for you to get you started. They help you to figure out the best path if you are new to this, or for your continued journey. Not only do they have in-person programs with multiple locations in the NoVA area, they offer virtual support and online classes/webinars as well. Each week we receive countless resources to explore which is so helpful! And, they partner with local agencies and other businesses that will support you as well. Everyone there is kind, caring, patient and understanding of your individual situation, whatever level you are in. We would not be as successful right without Insight Memory, and I am confident they will be a long-term partner in our complex and ever-changing journey. Make the call, you won't regret it.

My wife had been visiting and partaking in adult activities for dementia patients for 8.5 years at Insight Memory Care Center in Fairfax, VA. She began in “Reconnections,” which met from 10:00-3:00 each day; then she was placed in the “Blue” Group (7:30 -5:30), then the “Orange” Group (same times with more support staff) before I decided to place my wife in a full-time assisted-living residence. I would strongly recommend Insight Memory Care Center to anyone looking for a high quality day care center for your loved one who has dementia. The structured environment and varied activities (memory and fine motor skills support) provided my wife with socialization and stimulating games and tasks necessary at her beginning and middle stages of dementia. The staff was highly devoted to the well-being of the participants, offering a full range of support during the day, including personal hygiene and bathroom assistance. Additionally, daily breakfast and lunch was provided. My wife enjoyed her time there and given the opportunity to do this all over again, I wouldn’t hesitate to make the same decision.
It would be hard to overstate the benefits and value of Insight Memory Care Center, from the exceptional stimulation activities and programs to the caring, compassionate and knowledgeable staff. If you're looking for top notch adult day care tailored exclusively for people with dementia and Alzheimer's, look no further. It's the only such center in the region, but at the end of the day what makes IMCC so special is the dedication and passion of the people who work there. 5 stars!!
MY partner was diagnosed with ALZHEIMER's (AD) about 4 years ago; she has quickly progressed to mid-stage AD in that time. About 2 years ago we moved back to Fairfax County and I tried to get her into Insight's early stage programs, but she was totally resistant. However, during these efforts, I worked closely with Insight staff. I found them to be extremely responsive, with comprehensive knowledge and experience in dementia matters. But the most gratifying aspects were the staff's extremely caring approaches, to both my partner's and my own needs. Whatever we asked, they tried to find ways to help. About 5 months ago, because the disease had progressed and she had become less resistant, I was able to get her enrolled in Insight's day care program. It has been a blessing to both of us. They have given me very detailed accounts of her daily activities and progress. I have observed how kindly and caringly they interact with her (and the other participants), yet they are gently firm when need be. My partner is like a different person when she's there - so much more relaxed and amiable - and it lasts even after we are home. They can provide so many services to the participants to make their lives better - such as showering, personal hygiene, and help in eating - all often many times issues in dementia. I do not know how we would cope with our situation without them. They not only provide care, they provide a wide range of programs to help and educate those caregivers/families of the participants. These programs are first rate. Insight has been more than an outstanding care facility and help for me and my partner. They have been a blessing!
My experience with Insight Memory Care is that the people who work there are intelligent, compassionate and thoughtfully caring individuals who devote themselves to enriching the lives of those with cognitive challenges. We throw the word "heroes" around a lot, but these people are heroes in my book. I see how dedicated and hard working they are every day. They are unfailingly supportive and encouraging as they take care of everyone with gentle kindness. Equally important is the fact that the activities are truly mind stimulating and engaging. Insight provides exactly the varied cognitive and physical stimulation that someone with cognitive challenges needs to lift one's thought process to a higher level than they would otherwise have. Stephanie Houpt is the Program Director and she is a gem of a human being, as is everyone else there such as Jennifer Denk who is always willing to lend good advisement. James runs many of the activities and he is an exquisitely wonderful young man. He provides such interesting activities and is always smiling and encouraging. Insight is a great place for your loved one.
