Excellent facility for rehab. My Mother stayed at Hillcrest for 2 weeks following a hospital stay at Duke. . Duke recommended it and it was the perfect choice. The staff was caring, professional, and took their time helping her. She improved a lot because of how attentive they were, and how comfortable she felt. They gave regular updates to my brother and me and had excellent follow-up after she was discharged. Her room was very well appointed, clean and the entire facility was of the highest standards. If she needed to return I wouldn’t hesitate doing so, and will recommend it to others as well. I’m so glad we choose Hillcrest over others in the Durham area.

Went to sing Praises to several members of Peace Missionary Baptist Church and the place was SO clean. The residents and staff were delightful and very nice to us.
I have been to the facility twice now so please bear that in mind. From what I have seen so far the staff is very friendly and patient. My grandfather has been a handful recently and they have been professional and understanding of his condition. The facilities are very nice and clean. So far we are very happy with his care and appreciate the nurses, doctors and staff.
With the exception of a precious few, her caregivers were uncaring and did the least they could get away with. One woman was very rough and my mother was afraid of her. We were so thrilled to get my mom out of there! Typical wait time after the help button was pressed was 45 minutes. And they did not know whether she rang because she fell or needed a fork. Long wait no matter what. Physical therapists were helpful but we had to call after a week because they neglected to put her on their schedule. After the physical therapist had placed order for her to be allowed/encouraged to get out of bed herself, with assistant there to just make sure she was ok during transfer, the order never got posted, so they did not allow her to get up, negating the point of her visit, to get stronger. It only changed after daughter advocated for mom. If she had not had children to advocate for her, my mom would not have received physical therapy, been allowed to get out of bed by herself, or get baths. Social worker Michelle Dixon seems so pleasant when you meet her, but she was wildly incompetent and got angry when told she needed to fix paperwork errors or that she had placed the wrong order (actually illegal under NC law) for bed rails. Some highlights….Rodney was great. The whirlpool ladies were exceptionally nice and capable. Jeffrey the physical therapist was fabulous. My mom improved at Hillcrest, but it was not a good experience.
I have been visiting this facility for the last 15 years working with individual families and the Therapy Department. Everyone from the facility greets me with a smile on any visit, the atmosphere is amazing, and the care is top-notch.
