HORRIBLE PLACE! Not a place to heal but a place to die. I was admitted there after having a rod put in my Tibia. They made me wait an extra 2 1/2 hours for my pain meds. The only reason they gave them to me is because I kept pushing the button because I was in horrible pain. When I tried to advocate for myself I was told deal with it or discharge. I took option B. I will make sure everybody knows and as a Service Connected Veteran I will make sure that the VA is aware of these neglectful practices.
Sad place to be. Always short staffed. Some of the people working there are really nice, but their hands are tied. If you wish to skip a shower one day, have to sign a paper saying you refused to shower. Not at all pleased with my 2 week stay. Food is not good! One meal out of 3 is edible, and nobody cares. Big scoop of white rice, some cut-up tomatoes & onions & a glass of tomato juice, cup of coffee is not a balanced meal. Cereal w/brown sugar, cinnamon roll, orange juice & coffee is a sugar filled breakfast with no protein. Mercy! Treat a full grown adult like we're in kindergarten. I realize a lot of the patients are not as together as I am and that breaks my heart, because they can't stand up for themselves like I can. Would not recommend to Anyone!!! Nobody listens.Meds are often late. One night the Med Aid mixed up my roommate & my night/bedtime pills. She took mine, just made her sleepy, as only antidepressant that makes me sleepy. If I had not caught it as I didn't recognize the pills, it could have been bad news for me as she had some heavy duty medications. They just said sorry about that and laughed it off!!! Blew me away! If you have a choice do not put yourself or your family in this place. Sad!!!!
My father was a resident of highland for 20 days and I was not impressed with this facility. The facility is loud for starters and hard for my father to get any rest. When asking questions about my father’s health the staff could not provide a direct answer. Most of the staff was nice and willing to help, but one particular staff member Stephanie was a horrible person. She was rude to me for no reason other than to impose her personal beliefs on me, She was also very rude to my father. In my opinion should not be in the healthcare industry, and should seek employment in a dark room where she does not have to interact with other people.
A very special thank you to all the staff at Highland House and Bristol Hospice. You all were amazing from the moment our Dad entered the facility and up until the day he left. Each and every staff member we encountered was caring, compassionate and more than willing to help with whatever our Dad needed. He was comfortable and well cared for there. He especially loved it when Tina would sing to him! Thank you all again. Sincere Regards, from the Family of Mr. Brown.
