Back in January My Sister and I needed to find assisted living for our Mom and Dad. We looked at 18 different places from Sarasota to St Pete. I must say the Heron east was the Nicest Home for them by far. The process started with Brad Jones Director of sales.Brad gave me his full attention throughout the whole process. Brad answered his phone every single time I called without hesitation. Then the next person in line was Executive director Rebekah Libby. Rebekah made sure everything was in place the day my parents moved in. Rebekah has (probably) an unofficial open door policy :) Anytime I had questions about the process or questions about what to except from Heron East or just needed to talk with someone in this new stage of life for my parents she was there with sincere compassion and insight. Rebekah runs Heron East from my perspective like nothing I've ever seen, Very Efficient and Professional with compassion. She cares about Heron East and the people that live there. Heron East is very Clean, a Calm atmosphere, and has a very friendly and relaxing feel to it. The whole staff is friendly , helpful, caring they take great care in what they do. Jenna Coleman is the activity Director. Jenna makes sure that the residents are active with things from Painting, games, and schedules day trips for residents. Lavern Livingston is the Director of resident services Lavern is very hands on making sure that the residents needs are taken care of daily with a smile. The Dining room is setup very nice with 2 scheduled times for Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner to make a casual dining experience nice. I know this may come across as too good to be true but my Sister and I couldn't`t be happier that we picked Heron East to bring our parents for their next stage of life. My Parents thank us every chance they get and that feels good that my sister and I made the right decision. Scott Brundage Sarasota Florida.

My mom was there for a month for post rehab care, paid out of pocket by my family. She admitted that she was never offered a shower once during her stay. This is unacceptable and a health hazard. Once she had an accident, and the aide stood there and watched her clean herself up (she was able to stand but not walk on her own), and didn’t offer to assist. She waited until she was home to inform us because she feared retaliation. The nurses and PT were helpful and nice, and she liked the residents whom she met. But the aides were mostly unhelpful. This is so disappointing.
Every community can have something wrong with it, but this one has so many things that are going right. Very spacious courtyards, nice common areas, great walking path outside, and a gorgeous pond. Cheaper and more affordable spaces than most assisted living communities, but it doesn't feel run down.
I looked at many places before selecting Heron East. I also visited multiple times to make sure it was the right fit for my mom and it is! The community is very close knit. There is always something going on and it’s easy to navigate. My mother would not be able to handle a facility that required elevator use. Everything at Heron East is on one floor - a giant circle so there is no way to get lost and it makes it easy to get to the dining hall and activities. The staff is very attentive and they care. They have onsite physical therapists and a beauty salon. My mom loves the food and always talks about her friends! What’s most important is my mom is not alone. When I call her to say hello she never answers because she’s always doing something! I know many of the residents by name and they are down to earth regular people. The sales director worked with my mom offering one time discounts to smooth the transition. I’ll never have to worry about my mom again during hurricane season because I know she’ll be safe and with friends and staff who hunker down with the residents. If you’re looking for a great place for your loved one that is affordable and has an excellent offering for elders look no further. They also have two sister properties which are very nice as well. Heron house and heron club and they offer memory care. There is no community fee to transfer if that time comes.
I can't express how happy I am that my mother is at Heron East. Brad has been extremely helpful through the whole process and making my mother feel comfortable. Heron East is light and day better then her previous place. The food, amenities, the activities, attention to detail...but mostly the communication has left a lasting impression on me.
