In the past two years both my parents (Ridge Creek) and my in-laws (The Artisan) have moved into the Heritage Community. As a daughter/in-law I am continually comforted by the decision each couple made by moving into a CCRC - Heritage Community. These decisions were not made lightly. I personally researched all the Independent, Assisted, Memory Care living options in Kalamazoo. Meeting with Joe P, learning what Heritage has to offer: its long established local history, and status as a Non- For Profit - as a family we realized Heritage was the best and only choice to make. My advise to those searching for living options: Now is the Time. It is far better to make the transition early while you can versus when and if a crisis arises. Waiting until you "have to" greatly limits your options. Everyone within the Heritage Community has an aging related issue; that is what makes it unique - Everyone Gets It. Living among others has improved the over all health of all four parents. All are eating better. The food service is terrific - chefs at both kitchens create satisfying and delicious meals. Staff do a wonderful job making everyone feel welcomed and valued. All are more socially engaged. The variety of social activities is endless. The staff work hard at coming up with a wide variety of social activities. In looking at the definition of Community: "A feeling of fellowship with others, as a result of sharing common attitudes, interests & goals which fosters a sense of belonging and well being". I believe Heritage Community of Kalamazoo exemplifies this definition. Getting older isn't for sissies but with smart decisions, guidance and support making the transition is not as scary as it was years ago. I highly recommend learning what Heritage of Kalamazoo has to offer you and your family. I encourage interested parties to take a tour and see this special Community in Kalamazoo.

Ridge Creek is truly unique among retirement communities, and that is what drew us here. No other place in Kalamazoo offers such large apartments, high ceilings, large windows, and underground parking. However, the most important feature is the outdoor deck or patio for each apartment. The “icing on the cake” is its central location — ideal for shopping, medical facilities, entertainment, and dining.
My mother moved in about 4-5 years ago. I enjoy seeing her in a place like this but she has her wishes of things that were different. This place offers a dining room for 100+ like restaurant style or residents can eat in their room. The staff has always been great. They were willing to record a short video of me surprising my mom for a visit of more than 2 years. The facility takes security and medical wellness measures. There is a double door entry system for security easy 110% of the time human monitored desk and entry doors. I’m posting some pics of me and my mom over the years for validity. I e had friends in far lesser places, when I get old I’d love to be here…..that’s all I’ll say
moved here a year ago and am extremely happy. the best part are the people, staff and residents! very welcoming and cordial. activities are well planned out and fun but you can go to as many or as few as you are comfortable. concerts, games, book club, excercise classes and fitness center!!!!
My mother recently had a stroke due to Covid. She stayed at Heritage Community until she was well enough to come home with home care. Heritage is a wonderful place to rehab. Everyone is very professional, friendly and caring. Her needs were always met and I felt at ease about leaving her there. I would recommend Heritage Community to anyone in need of their services.
