I originally rated Heartside Manor 2 yrs ago. I rated the facility to quickly and I should have given it more time for the administrator, health coordinator, and the staff to really show there true self. The administrator Tarah and the health coordinator often lied to us about my mother in law and how she was bring treated. For example they have built this shows chair out of pvc piping with a toilet seat for the resident to sit on while they shower them. We came I one day to find mother in law in this contraption. She was crying, asking to be let go, had shampoo running into her eyes and the the health coordinator and one of the med techs were trying to give her a shower. This was the last straw so we moved her put of this hell hole into a different facility where she is actually thriving!! DO NOT PLACE YOUR LIVED ONES AT THIS FACILITY!

There was nothing more emotional or stressful than having to place my mother into a memory care facility once I could no longer care for her in my home. The original facility where she went to live was a disaster and I was forced to remove her. Finding Hearthside Manor was the greatest blessing for both me and my mother. The Resident Care Coordinator, Leala Barnes, is an angel on earth. She and her staff provide the most comprehensive, loving, and competent care I could ever ask for. Leala is in constant contact with family members. She informs us of everything regarding our loved ones and always finds the time to speak with us should we want to talk about our family member. Under her direction, the staff is kind and knowledgeable about our family members and treats them with the love and respect that means so much to us. Because of Leala Barnes and her staff, I can sleep at night, knowing my mother is being cared for like I would care for her. From the moment you enter Hearthside, Debbie the receptionist is kind and takes care of anything you need from a business standpoint. I found Hearthside almost 4 years ago, and it is now home for mom, and me as well. I recommend Hearthside Manor if you are looking for a safe, warm, loving environment for your loved one with Alzheimer’s or dementia. Thank you Leala and Hearthside!
Moved my mom in this place in October of 2021. Her first night she fell and hit her head on the fireplace mantel. We got no phone call. My sister was POA she should have been calling immediately. They also left her in bad for 13 hours. I showed up around 2 pm and the staff members that came to the room said they had no idea my mom had moved in. Both insidents happened her first 4 days there. We got her out ASAP. Staff are uneducated and irresponsible
I give Hearthside Manor a FIVE STAR rating! Since my mother moved into Hearthside Manor in March of 2019, they have treated her with kindness, top rate care, and made her feel "at home" as much as possible. I have been able to communicate with all of the staff, all the way to the top administrator. They are receptive to any concerns, and willing to work with me on every issue. I applaud Saporia Williams and Shannon Matson, especially, as they constantly and consistently do their best to make sure my mother is very well cared for. I would recommend this facility to anyone with a loved one who needs memory care, live-in assistance.
I can’t say enough good things about Hearthside Manor. Nine months ago, when we could no longer care for my mom in our home, Hearthside truly became her new home. Because of its size and the small staff-to-resident ratio, Hearthside Manor provides an intimate, homelike setting with generous amounts of individual attention from the caregivers and communication based on a resident’s current needs. When my mother moved in, the staff and caregivers worked together to understand what would make her comfortable in her new surroundings, physically, emotionally, and socially, and input from the family in this process was sought out and valued. When she returned to Hearthside from a recent hospital stay, everyone had to work through that process once again—but they did, and she has settled back in to a little different routine. There’s no one-size-fits-all agenda at Hearthside—each person is treated with individual consideration and respect. While there is a routine in place which creates order and calm, there is also flexibility for individual needs and tastes. For example, those with dementia often don’t have typical sleeping patterns, and while this can disrupt the average household, it is graciously accommodated in this setting. One of the caregivers often will simply sit on the couch with a wakeful resident after everyone else is in bed and share a cup of hot chocolate and stories until sleep comes. The confusion and emotions that surface from time to time are always met with reassurance and kindness. Family and friends are encouraged to stop in at any time and are made to feel at home with their loved one and the “family” that is made up of all the residents and staff. There’s always a story to tell—what’s been going on and how the family member has been doing since you were there last—and there’s lots of laughter! It’s so heartwarming to watch the genuinely gentle care from the staff as well as interactions that occur between the residents from time to time. I never walk out the front door without a smile on my face and a grateful heart for the people who make this a wonderful home for my mom! Hearthside is always clean, the food is good and nourishing and creatively prepared, the grounds and building are well cared for, the facility is safe and secure, the staff are happy and get along well with one another and the residents—it’s a wonderful place!
