Super
The children's program is well-organized and extensive. The service and staff were always friendly and helpful. Although many other reviews regarding the staff and service claim otherwise, I think it depends on your own expectations. Our stay was very pleasant.
Were there for the Easter family camp. The ladies at reception were friendly and very helpful, for example quite a few of us had forgotten our hairdryer, so the caretakers were even sent out to buy some. So they really try. But the German-speaking kitchen staff was really unfriendly, especially the gray-haired lady. In a family hotel you also expect staff who can work with children. And don't bully her because of childish behavior. Room: getting old, but functional. We were able to live well there for a while. But especially with small crawling children, we found the rooms a bit difficult. Food: the food was perfectly fine for us. During the day we usually took a packed lunch with us, which was really enough, and then ate it warm in the evening. There was always a small selection of "everything". In the evenings, on some days there was a choice between snacks and warm. But everything was pretty much rationed. And it's clear that the children would like to eat schnitzel with fries again in the evening. Unfortunately, there wasn't enough for everyone and you weren't allowed to get something again in the evening. That was only for those who hadn't had anything for lunch. Sorry, but I don't tell my little child on vacation that they're not allowed to eat any more fries The staff stood there and paid close attention to who was putting something on their plate and what not. Greetings from the Bundeswehr. A woman and her child were really talked to because she gave her daughter a few fries and half a schnitzel. I'm not sure whether the staff knew that we, the guests, paid money for this holiday and that too. Meal arrangement? We are used to different things from other hotels. Program: This pizza party did not take place as announced. Once there was a short hike, but we didn't take part. There was child care, which the children probably really liked. (We haven't claimed them and can't say too much about them). In any case, there were nice things made with the children. There was a movie night with popcorn. All the children, including ours, liked it because it had the feeling of a family hotel. Other guests we spoke to also said that they were quite disappointed this time and that it would probably be completely different in the summer. Sauna and water playground were only open on 3 afternoons. But at least it was sufficient for us. The water playground was also very nicely done. The games room upstairs was certainly nice a few years ago, but it's also getting quite old and is pure chaos. There were peanuts between the toys (which the hotel itself can't do anything about), but maybe tidying up in there, sorting out broken toys and doing a bit of cleaning wouldn't be a bad idea. But the area is great, it got 5 stars from us. There's a lot you can do and you can also get to good excursion destinations on foot. We will definitely come back to Pfronten.
It was okay, but we won't come back and won't recommend it to others. Room: Very old, but functional. Our room looked nothing like the photos on the homepage (probably only the rooms that have already been modernized can be seen here) The games room is very dated and the carpet smells unpleasant. Our child loved the gym and enjoyed playing there. The playground is partly dilapidated and play equipment such as the carousel no longer works and the nest swing was taken down. Food: We are definitely used to better things from other Kolping houses. If you weren't on time for dinner, there would only be random leftovers. Such as pork knuckle, tomato sauce with meatballs, vegetable curry and rice. If you replace the fries with wedges in the schnitzel, that's no problem for me. But when sauerkraut, red cabbage and dumplings are rationed so tightly and are then replaced by vegetable curry and tomato sauce with meatballs, I find the combination with pork knuckle very questionable. But at least there was no polenta, as we had already had it as a side dish for 3 days before. The salad buffet was the same the entire week, I would have liked a little variety here. And maybe 2 food distribution points. It was a nice week, also because Pfronten is simply very beautiful and we were able to do a lot of other things. However, we had hoped for more from a family holiday with a holiday program, as almost no program was offered (except for childcare). The wellness area was only open on 2 afternoons because they had been waiting for a replacement part for 4 weeks. But when I read the reviews here, the area was already closed in December. One had the feeling that Haus Zauberberg was currently not on a good path, that a lot of savings were being made and that some guests seemed dissatisfied.
