This would be the last place I would take a loved one. A very good friend of mine was there for less than a week and fell in the care of an aid. As this can happen anywhere, after she broke her hip and had surgery, it was time for her to go back to a facility. Heartsfield Village accepted her but stated they did not have a room at the time. so the family waited for a call for availability. A week had passed and while trying to reach someone with no response a family member went to facility where they were told we are not accepting anyone due to flu outbreak, another Lie! this nonsence has gone on for weeks now with no resolve. I think this is such horrible actions on the part of staff. Why would they just not say we are not accepting you and let the family move on? Instead she is now used up reserve hospital stay due to their lack of care. Reading other reviews , this seems to be consistant practice with this establishment. Poor service and liars that have absolutely no compassion for patients or family members. I would rate them a 0 if I could! I am not sure how this staff and sleep at night doing what they do to people. Karma will come back and bite them one day when they have a family member or themselves need a place to go.

It has taken me three years to write this review due to the fact that our experience at Hartsfield was extremely upsetting to our entire family. It’s hard to revisit all of the events because it brings back memories of how much they made my mother suffer, unnecessarily. I would give a negative number if that were possible I did report Hartsville to the state and filed a complaint, but I’m sure because they did not kill her. No one at the state cares. My mother was a patient here three years ago. She was transferred from Saint Mary’s after recovering from a severe bout of lower extremity cellulitis and sepsis. She was extremely deconditioned her kidneys failed, and they had her catheterized in the hospital. They removed the urinary catheter prior To transfer -so she was going to need help going to the bathroom. When she first arrived, my father was with her and she told him she had to use the bathroom, but she was a two person assist ( 2 people had to help her up due to her weakness -which Hartsfield knew and they accepted her as a transfer) ). Help did not come in time and she had an accident and she was very upset. Shortly after that she had to use the bathroom again. The aid said to her in front of my father don’t you worry we will get you a diaper and fix you all up. My father replied she is here for therapy and she will not wear a diaper we could do that at home. I think that was the kiss of death because 48 Hours later her legs started turning black. After fighting with Hartsfield for two days, we had her transferred to Community hospitals ER . And we were dealing with management that was outright lying to us saying things like they went into the room and checked her legs when my Father was sitting there and they never came Into the room. What we figured out because we looked at her medication is Hartsfield did not give her the full dose of her diuretics . I’m sure so that she wouldn’t have to go to the bathroom as there was no medical reason to support changing the dose and as a result, her lower legs began to swell and her blood flow was compromised, and they got infected again with cellulitis -at no time when we continually questioned her sudden change in medical status, were we ever informed that her diuretics needed to be adjusted because they probably didn’t want us to know they didn’t give her the medication. They kept talking about how cellulitis is difficult to treat. Her cellulitis had resolved prior to her admission this was new cellulitis. So beware they mess with your meds and then lie about it - I know that if your loved one has traditional Medicare in order to qualify for skilled nursing care, they must be in the hospital for at least three midnights in inpatient status -Once they are transferred to the nursing home, if the nursing home sends them back to the hospital within 30 days, and the patient is readmitted to inpatient status it is a reportable event meaning they lose money due to The transfer. All transfers back to the hospital are tracked and monitored any readmission within 30 days will cause loss of payment to the nursing home-therefore, they fight tooth and nail to stop patients from being able to be transferred back to the hospital in order to mitigate any risk that they could be readmitted There are many more disturbing details to the story, but not enough space or time to share. I am revisiting these memories because my father is currently 83 in the hospital and very deconditioned and they want him to go to a nursing home for. Rehab Not happening-EVER. There are A lot of one star reviews for a reason I only hope in a matter of time this place will be shut down. And I see these are current reviews so zero improvement from three years ago
My mom was there 2 years ago but only for 3 days because she had to go back to the hospital, but the care and facility was nice, and it was close to home. We could visit frequently. She had the same exact insurance then as now and for some reason they would not except her this time. I left several msgs trying to speak to someone in admissions before and after the rejection and no one returned my calls. Maybe it was A blessing in disguise, but I had questions about what we could do to change insurance but after reading the new reviews and lack of communication we have recently experienced, I highly doubt I would consider this for Mom.
Do not send your loved ones there. This place is the worst nightmare anyone could have. My 66 year old father got transferred there for a “rehab” after being hospitalized for 3 weeks, but we left 2 days later. The place is extremely understaffed, their nurses are rude and not compassionate. No matter how many times you press help button, they simply do not come. My father fell of the bed, my mom was calling for help, nobody came. Passing throughout the hallway and listening to poor people screaming for help and nobody comes, it is frightening. I called their director, Mrs. Howkins, multiple times, left multiple messages, no call back. I asked one of the nurses to explain what their job expectations is and in how long they are expected to show up at the room after patient calls for help, her answer was “ whenever we can”. Nurses station is beeping from all kind of direction, but nobody gets up to see what’s happening with the patient. Please do not send your loved ones there. I made a mistake of not reading their reviews prior to bringing my father there. All the reviews are bad and they DO NOT CARE.
For every one employee it seem to care they were 10 that did not. I felt invisible for the first four days and when insurance ended and day nine I was not ready to go home as I had not gotten proper therapy ice or attention, so I was glad to go home even though I’m alone, I really would recommend people go from any replacement surgery home with Health Care home health care. My special request for diet or ignored nine out of 10 times when I called for water or help. Many times it took an hour before anyone Answered I would not recommend this place for anyone
