This review is only for the memory care facility at Harpers Station. We found it to be a very sterile environment with different staff most weekends/times we visited. The staff complained about our father to us at almost every visit and we found him not happy there. His room was not always clean, due to toilet issues, and he was not getting showered regularly. We asked for a higher level of service/care but were called and asked to shower him ourselves instead. It may have been a lack of communication, but he was not happy there. He told us he is so much happier at his new memory care facility because the people at the new place are nice. We are also happier with the staff and level of training at our new facility, which we didn't see at Harper's Station. He liked the food better at Harpers Station, but frequently reminds us that he likes the new place better. It is a smaller memory care only facility. He was at Harper's Station memory care for 8 months.

I can't say enough about this facility and staff. Great location between Gainesville, Haymarket, and Warrenton. Very new facility with open spaces and great decor. I initially reached out to Suzanne Woods who was super responsive. My dad wasn't ready to visit yet so we put things on hold. When the time was right, I stopped in unannounced and Suzanne graciously gave us a tour without an appointment. My father was very standoffish, but Suzanne had seen that a thousand times and tried to kill him with kindness. She was very well versed in elderly who were not excited about the idea of moving into a retirement community. Fast forward a few months and my dad's condition worsened. He wanted to remain in independent living, but knew he should be closer to help. With Suzanne's help we found an efficiency within a couple of weeks. It wasn't his first choice, but it was a foot in the door. The apartment was spotless when we moved in. Fresh paint, nice kitchen area, and large bathroom. Harpers Station literally rolled out the red carpet when my dad moved in. There were resident greeters who tracked my dad down on his first day to welcome him. I have been thoroughly impressed with the facility and hope it lives up to the other reviews I've read.
Five stars for Independent Living. Zero stars for Assisted Living. We have moved our loved one elsewhere for Memory Care.
Suzanne Woods is incredible! She gently navigated my mother and I through the big decision to move to Senior Living. She was patient and spent so much time during multiple visits to the community. We are both thrilled with the decision to move to Harper's Station!
Such a warm and loving community. The staff and residents are like one giant family. You can always count on the teamwork of the staff to take care of the residents from the moment they step through the front. Food, so delicious, always something new to try and enjoy.
