Chapters Living is unethical and does not care for your residents. Unfortunately, this memory care has gone downhill since the previous director left. I moved my family member out of this community due to lack of care, a worn-down building that doesn't have safety issues at top of mind. The food has gone downhill. The new director has cut out therapy and support care for residents. Not sure why on earth they would allow that in a memory care. The building has rodents and cockroaches in the kitchen that I have seen personally. I moved my family member out immediately after seeing the care decrease and broken promises after broken promises. Our family members deserve better and anywhere is better than Chapters Living of Wheeling.

I would recommend Harbor House to anyone looking for a skilled nursing dementia care facility. 5 stars for sure. The staff understands that dementia is a physical and cognitive disease, and their care reflects that. The staff have hundreds, if not thousands of hours, of observation of this disease and their experience shows. My family member was well cared for, and I hope this review will help other families and patients.
My mother was in this facility for years. The hospice nurse at the end of her life said that they weren't even bathing my mother or brushing her teeth. I visited my mother from out of state when I could and watched this facility slide into what it became. We paid a fortune for her care. THEY WILL NOT ANSWER THEIR PHONES OR RETURN CALLS. Be aware of this. The director's mailbox is full. There is no receptionist. If you leave voicemails no one will return your calls. It's a dangerous situation to put a loved one in a facility that allows no communication with residents. Be very wary of putting a loved one here. No matter how cute and cozy it appears, they will take all your money, provide minimal care and provide no communication and will not respond to calls. This place should be investigated for fraud.
So grateful for Harbor House. My mother has dementia and has received excellent care for the past 5 years. Warm, skilled at working with dementia symptoms and flexible is how I would describe the team. We researched the top care facilities in the area and I can say with confidence that Harbor House is the best. I offer this feedback having previously cared for my father for over a decade who also suffered from dementia and now my mother. My perspective is also informed by my professional training/experience as a licensed clinical social worker with over 22 years experience as a therapist and administrator in the mental health field. Our family found Harbor House to be a perfect fit for our loved one. The staff has always been responsive to our requests and questions and cared for those in their care. They provide the best care. What a great place. I really think a facility that does just memory care is the best solution for loved ones with memory issues. They concentrate on memory care and excel at it.
