Gurnee Place Memory Care facility is very warm and inviting. It is clean and very well maintained. The staff is very kind, helpful and accommodating. I feel that my loved one is well cared for. The staff is trained and knowledgeable as well as compassionate. Director Pam Feldman and her team are always helpful and dedicated to the residents and their families.

The management staff at Gurnee Place went above and beyond to make a difficult and confusing transition easier on our family. We were impressed with the responsiveness of Bobby in reacting to changing timeframes and the time that the Executive Director Pam spent with us was priceless!
Terrible experience. Good place for a loved one if you want their personal items to be stolen or "lost". Expensive lesson all around . Place is a clip joint in my opinion that only warehouses your loved one. Stay far away Removed my wife after 1 week They advised me to let her adjust for at least 1 more week before deciding on pulling her out. I visited on day 7 with an open mind. I decided that if there was good evidence she was happy and engaging more, I could be willing to wait another week and see how it goes. See if she adjusts more. Unfortunately, I noticed her wedding ring was gone along with some necklaces she permanently wears that have sentimental value. Her debit card and credit card (both were already deactivated prior to intake but kept in her wallet to make her feel calm) were also missing from the slots in her wallet. This makes me think the missing ring and necklaces aren’t just lost. The wallet has card slots so, someone went in the wallet and pulled the 2 cards out (again, deactivated cards but, looks like someone took them to try and use them). They told me not to bring valuable items and I didn’t bring any cash or other jewelry but I didn’t expect for a wedding ring that has never left her finger and necklaces she never removes, even during showers to be gone. Let alone things from her purse. I have filed a police report Update 11/26 - One week later and not even the courtesy of a phone call to apologize (they claimed they would have an "investigation" yeah right) which pretty much tells you all you need to know . Buyer beware. Update 12/11- Still they claim that they have no idea what happened to personal items and cannot trace who interacted with her on camera. Apparently they want me to believe they simply evaporated. They take ZERO responsibility and wont apologize. In my opinion, not a good place. Update 12/19. I have also filed a complaint about the incident with the Illinois Department of Public Health. This is the last time I will mention it. It is a loss and they wont be held accountable because life is not fair but hopefully this will give anyone considering this facility some insight. They are not terrible, just understaffed and very aloof/indifferent.
This memory care community has some of the best management leaders who truly care about the residents. Pam is not only the executive director but has personally gone through what many families are experiencing when it comes to care for a loved one with Alz or dementia. The administrator Gaby being a cna knows what it takes to care for the residents. I have never seen a team that manages day to day task and also doesn’t think twice about jumping in and providing day to day care. Proud to be a partner!
The fact that this is for memory issues only is key. Impressive that the administrators are quick to help the care givers whenever necessary. The care givers care for the residents in kind and caring manner. There is constant direction given to all concerned. Came from a other facility and found this much superior in many ways. Am recommending thus to anyone in need
