If i could give minus 10000 stars I would. Let me start by saying this facility is beautiful and in a great location but that is ALL it has going for it. The state needs to step in before someone really gets hurt. It is being ran by two people who threaten the PCA's (caregivers) with their jobs if they tell the families what is going on with their loved one. We were told not to call the nurses station if we needed to know anything to call the Administrator direct and she is NEVER there or knew nothing about what is going on in the back. They went two weeks before brushing or bathing my family member. In the 6 weeks my family member was in the facility they drug overdosed him, causing his second emergency room trip in 6 weeks. When my son got to him and the EMT's his bp was deathly low and he was unresponsive. The Med Tech who overdosed him refused to call 911 when asked to by family. If family had not shown up our beloved would have died from the tech not looking at his med records and giving him to much medicine. And before you say this isn't true, we met with all staff, head Administrator, Nurse, Hospice Nurse, Placement Coordinator, and Memory Care Coordinator the next day and they showed the record to me where she did not notice she double dosed to soon. What did they do? NOTHING. This med-tech is still working there. She was still allowed to give medicine to the patients and my family member. They do not change the residents when they are suppose to be. My family was left soaking in bed and pee. Almost all of the time my family member was left to stay in bed all day without any food or drink. The rooms are NEVER cleaned. We found can's, food, and other peoples clothes under the bed and behind the chairs. When you ask about a bruise or a cut they always say i don't know how that happen. My loved one's med's were changed 3 times in 6 weeks claiming aggression. This is a memory/alzheimers unit but they say they are not capable of dealing with anger issues. They drugged my family member multiple times to keep them out of it so they did not have to deal with them. They would make us come to the facility multiple times a day to say my family member refused meds or would not shower. And yet we are paying the "Qualified" facility to do this and trust me they are not cheap. They did not provide my family member with the showers, hairs cuts, shaving, teeth brushing, or changing that we had been paying for. We would walk in and hours old food be on a tray in my family members room. It was horrible. We had to take my family member to the dentist because they said their teeth were not fitting so we did and guess what it was someone else's teeth. They had NOT a clue where my family members teeth were and guess what we found them under the BED! They never opened the blinds or turned the lights on in the room they just always wanted them to stay in the bed. When they would put them in the "Common" area they just sat them at tables without any interaction and the staff sits on their cells phones! The staff always just is on their cell phones not paying any attention to the residents. It always has a horrible urine smell in the locked unit. And the staff.... they hire services to staff this facility so hardly any of them are true employee's so staffing changes constantly. The memory care coordinator who was just hired quit due to how unprofessional the Admin and the head nurse are. They are best friends and lie to cover everything up. You could ask a PCA how your family member was and then ask the Admin or Head nurse and all stories were completely different. The Admin and Head Nurse both come from another facility which DID NOT HAVE memory care so they have NO CLUE. They have the LOWEST rating of any facility in the county. They have NO stars and their rating thru the state is 61.25. My family and I regret trusting these people and the things they told us would happen if we placed. Please decided on a different facility for your loved one. The owner will not speak to you or hear any of your complaints.
My sister is in Grace Village Memory care and everyone is so attentive to her needs and my concerns. It is a real blessing since it was such a difficult decision to put my loved one in someone else's care.
Horrible Place! If you love your family members do not let them reside here. This facility illustrates a horribly ran assisted living center. From administration to hourly employees the lack of care or effort cannot be more obvious. There is no structure at this facility to ensure the caretakers are doing what they are paid to do. This facility has given one of my family members the wrong medication multiple times. This facility has made my family member gone without food and clean clothes on multiple occasions. The way the employees here are trained needs to be fixed! Everyone needs to be fired and they should start fresh!
By far the best assisted living center in Granite Falls, if not in the entire Hickory area. The facility is spotless and the staff are top notch - they are intelligent and incredibly kind and considerate. Compare Grace Village to any other facility in NC if you have to - Grace Village is the best.
