We have reached the end of our Alzheimer’s journey with my mom and our entire family can say without hesitation that Gordon manor has been truly a godsend in every possible way. If you are reading this review while searching for a place for your loved one, I implore you not to look any further. This is the place to have your loved one. No one else will compare. If they have a room, grab it. If you need to wait for a room, do your best in the meantime and get in that wait list. You will be eternally grateful that the love, compassion, empathy and care they provide will be part of your memories with your loved one. I fill forever be their biggest cheerleader and fan. The professional care and love they provided my mom has been outstanding. Heads and tails above anything else out there. Gordon Manor has captured my heart forever. We came from Oakmont and it was the most dreadful experience-please feel free to read their Google reviews because they are honest and awful. Back to Gordon Manor… Every time I go there I am struck by the genuine compassion and dignity given to the residents. Something that should be a given for senior care, but is sadly in so many other facilities, not present. It’s the big things and the little things that you will notice when you observe what happens at Gordon Manor. Genuine care, meaning diaper changes and bathroom trips happen frequently and residents are checked on constantly. I see hair combing and sweater, buttoning, blanket tucking, gentle touches to the head or shoulders as if to say “I see you, I’m here, you are important.” I compare this to my mom locked in her room at Oakmont, and left alone filled with anxiety for hours on end. Every single time I visit Gordon manor I realize how fortunate we are to have my mother there. Watching her decline through Alzheimer’s has been hard enough and knowing that she is finally receiving the care she deserves…it’s something that still makes me so emotional. I’ve heard her caregiver tell her “I am treating you with dignity and respect because I too am an older woman.” This particular incident was so heartwarming because this caregiver did not know that I was there. She did not know that I was quietly sitting in my moms room, unannounced and waiting for them to finish in the bathroom. This is genuine, extraordinary care. The kind you can’t even imagine being so fortunate to have. As I said, it’s the little things and the big things. Food cut in small pieces so that they can actually feed them selves if they’re able to do so. Abundant staff to handle the needs of the residents, activities that actually happen, and are all inclusive, compassion and care that doesn’t just happen when a family member is present observing. I literally could go on and on and on about how amazing this senior care home is. It is my sincere desire to have my mom live out the rest of her life here because this is what she deserves. It is hands-down, not even comparable to anywhere else. Get on the waitlist! Gordon manor is extraordinary.
