My brother was placed there for end of life care. I assumed it included comfort care. The place is seriously understaffed. Why they keep excepting new patients when they do not have the staff to care for them, is beyond me. Simple requests to the staff about his care by family, was positivity responded to but not carried through. On his last day I went up to see him. His lunch tray was by him. The enchilada was cut in half. Containers with sealed lids were not opened. This is after they had agreed to that food would be cut up into small pieces and à staff member would be with him to assist him. He was laying on his bed with just an adult diaper on and no covering on him. They say he went to the dining area for supper and when they took him back to his room, he requested to stay in his wheelchair and when they came back he was gone. This is total bullshit. He was too weak and barely verbal when I saw him. He would not have requested either of those things. This was just his last day. The doctor who saw him that morning wrote that he was at end of life and family should be notified. We weren't and he died alone. Shame on you!!!

My father was at Sunset Drive GOOD Samaritan for only a few days. He fell out of bed. No precautions were put in place such as a fall mat beside his bed after his fall. He fell out of bed again today and hit his head. No fall mat was put in place. He is on blood thinners and is only at this "care center" because of a stroke he suffered from just 16 days ago. I am VERY UNIMPRESSED by this facility at this point. As a former ND SATE HEALTH FACILITIES SURVEYOR, I know exactly how nursing homes should be run. THIS facility is already failing my father.
Just heard a relative who is there was intimidated last night. Vulnerable elderly adult being told the staff didn’t like being told what to do by family members. Get your shit together, soon.
My Grandma was there at the end of her life. This facility and staff were amazing. Not only did they care for my Grandma like their own, they also cared for us, that were with her pretty much 24/7. I can not say enough good things about this facility. would highly recommend!
MUST READ! I aim for transparency with everyone—prospective employees, those considering this place for a loved one, and families with members already here—about the true nature of this establishment and the real experiences that lie behind its doors. Allow me to paint a vivid, alarming picture of what it means to work in this institution; opting for employment at this abysmal establishment is equivalent to willingly subjecting oneself to a relentless assault on overall well-being, it’s an ongoing nightmare. The overt unprofessionalism exhibited by the management is merely the tip of the iceberg in this soul-crushing environment. Imagine a workplace where unprofessionalism is not just present but rampant, and those in leadership positions, along with some nurses, actively contribute to the misery. These individuals exhibit a level of laziness and apathy that is beyond comprehension, showcasing a flagrant refusal to assist the CNA’s in resident care duties. Adding to the absurdity, some of these nurses, along with the management, indulge in a baffling practice where, when residents activate their call lights for assistance, they don’t actually help. Instead, they make a point of inquiring about the residents’ needs and then promptly seek out a CNA to relay the information, wasting precious time and underscoring the glaring incompetence and indifference that permeates the facility. This egregious lack of teamwork and empathy results in the CNA’s shouldering an unbearable burden, ultimately leading to compromised care for residents. In this environment, incompetence is widespread, and every step forward feels like navigating through quicksand, causing professional aspirations to wither away amidst pervasive negativity. The management’s disdain for basic professional standards is merely symptomatic of the all-encompassing toxicity that seeps into every nook and cranny of the organization, creating a stifling atmosphere where improvement seems like a distant dream. But the darkness doesn’t stop there. The management’s inexcusable policy extends to the egregious concealment of critical information from families, including horrifying instances of elderly residents being preyed upon by fellow residents. This deliberate cover-up compounds the suffering and anxiety of loved ones, adding to the litany of horrors within these walls. And let us not forget the shocking negligence displayed by some CNA’s, who are consistently late, sometimes by hours, and some who brazenly unplug alarms at night when they’d rather not be bothered with their responsibilities. Even when caught sleeping on the job or committing a “no call, no show” offense - often more than once - they are strangely granted multiple chances, further undermining the well-being of residents. This compounded layer of negligence and concealment only adds to the institutional malaise, creating a truly toxic environment where the safety and care of the most vulnerable are jeopardized. Every day spent within these walls feels like an exhausting battle. The concept of support here is a mirage, a cruel illusion that keeps receding into the distance, leaving you parched for guidance and encouragement. Job satisfaction remains a distant, unreachable star, and the toll on mental health is astonishing, while stress, anxiety, and despair creep into every crevice of your life, taking a toll that is impossible to ignore. To recommend this abyss to anyone would be an egregious act of professional betrayal. Not only should anyone seeking employment avoid this hellish place, but you should also refrain from entrusting your loved ones to its care. Severe understaffing exacerbates the already dire conditions, leaving individuals in their care vulnerable and neglected. The employee turnover rate at this institution is shocking, resembling a revolving door of constant departures and arrivals. Spare yourself, and those you care about, from the psychological warfare and seek alternatives that prioritize competence, professionalism, and the basic humanity this place so mercilessly lacks.
