Having to place a loved one in assisted living is not easy. Lisa at Choice Connections made everything as simple as possible by choosing Ginter Hall South. Everyone from Linda Bishop Ex Director though the entire staff gave Kay the most wonderful experience the family could have ever hoped for. The activities alone keep everyone involved. The staff is very good at their jobs and the smiles on their faces tell me they enjoy what they do. The cleanliness of the facility is second to none. You guys truly are the best. Thank You for everything.
Our family has been very happy with the care and attention our loved one is receiving here. The facility is small with a family feel, it is clean, and medical care and physical therapy is top notch.
I don't know if it because they are understaffed or what, but the communication is awful. After we moved my dad in, it literally took days to get answers to my questions from the nursing staff in some cases. I was continually put into voicemail and made to wait hours and days for a return call. I was not allowed in due to the Covid restrictions (totally understandable) so I never met any of the staff and was never introduced. I had to request a list of contacts so I could more easily communicate. But it didn't help. I was told repeatedly, "We're doing the best we can". But having to wait so long for the answer to a question is unacceptable. There was an incident with him falling out of bed and another with his new roommate but we were not immediately notified. We had to learn about it from my father. The food was reportedly good, but a request on how to prepare a bowl of cereal a specific way was ignored, and in the 3 weeks my father was there, he was never able to get that bowl of cereal. And getting coffee in the morning was sporadic. Sometimes he got it, sometimes not. There was some confusion about the price of the room at first, so when he first arrived, he was put in a single room temporarily for about 10 days until they could prepare his permanent room with a roommate. In that time, they were reluctant to unpack much of hIs belongings so he could settle in. They never assembled a recliner or book case that we had delivered there. He was left to "live out of a suitcase" in a manner of speaking until his room was ready. Then they notified us that the recliner would not fit in the room, so he couldn't have it. I can understand them not wanting to unpack certain things, but he didn't have that much that it would have taken very long. It's very upsetting to a person of that age that relies on stability and familiarity to feel comfortable. I understand that they were challenged by covid, but they did little to make the situation an easy or comfortable one for any of us. In the end, my nearly constant frustrations, concerns about quality of care and the fact that he was miserable forced me to pull my father out. I'm glad that others have had a good experience, but it was not good for us.
Great place! Great Folks! Kathy Aucott is fabulous. She is very knowledgeable about her community, welcoming and kind.
