I am fairly early in the process of looking for an independent living facility for my mother. For anyone in a similar situation I recommend a visit to 5 star residences in Yonkers. Speak with Charlie Dumas there, and he will make the process easier and actually enjoyable. He is knowledgeable, courteous, and extremely helpful. The facilities at 5 star may not be brand new, but they are very clean, very well maintained and all staff we met while touring the facility were very courteous and helpful. 5 Star recommendation for both 5 Star Residences and for Charlie.

Relief, peace of mind, gratitude. These are some of the feelings I have experienced since my 91 year old mother moved into Five Star in Yonkers. She, like many in independent living still enjoys participating in life and socializing although she is physically impaired and has cognitive decline. This is the THIRD facility she has lived in over the last 13 years. So we have "been around the block" with senior living. Five Star stands out as absolutely the best place she has lived. Every single person has shown us care and compassion including Melissa and Ruth on the sales team to Monica and her staff in the dining room to Joe, the director of independent living. Rob Tenant, the executive director is exceptional. He really means what he says and he is someone you can count on to help your loved one. All I can say is that my mom seems to have gotten some of her spirit back. She is more engaged in the community than she has been at other places. Thank you Rob, Monica, Melissa and everyone else on the staff for all of your compassion, attention to even the smallest details and devotion to my mom.
My parents (and now just my mother) have lived at Five Star in Yonkers for about 9 years. Though it is not perfect, there are a few characteristics that make it exceptional. One of them is the staff and their level of genuine caring and concern for the residents. In particular, Rawlison and his maintenance crew, who are always respectful, responsive, and courteous. Whenever I leave here, I know that my mother is getting good care, and that her needs will be addressed. Also, the food in the dining room has gotten noticeably better in the last year.
My brother has been in independent living at Five Star for 5 years. The facility is very nice, the staff is friendly and very accommodating. I was very pleased with how quickly and thoroughly the administration addressed a maintenance issue that had slipped through the cracks when it was recently brought to their attention again. As in any large facility there are issues but I feel that the administration works hard to keep things positive and fix the issues as quickly as possible with the least amount of inconvenience to the residents . I want to compliment the concierge staff. They are the kind and welcoming face of the community.
I came to Five Star for only two months and then came to the conclusion that I should make it permanent. My expectations were high and have not been disappointed. The staff is 👍 Made new friends, too. In between all this I broke my hip, I was away for two months, upon returning I had to have therapy, and I am recovering and doing very well,TU Just waiting for the flowers and trees to bloom on the grounds, because walking is a must for me and outside you feel all stress passes away.
