Just spent 20 minutes on the phone with Katie, helping me with information for my Aunt and Uncle. What a pleasure to speak with someone that truly cares enough to spend time and effort to help others without strings attached. Thank you Katie

My father was there and I have to say the nursing staff was incredibly kind. Amazing overworked people and I’m sure underpaid. It is a great place for residents that have little or no issues other than just being elderly. My father on the other hand suffers from dementia. It was decided to elevate him to the lowest level which I’m sure after observing the care he would have received he never would of survived it. My sister who took on the brunt of dealing with it because she lives locally went through quite a lot trying to secure the best care for him. The funny thing was the nurses that were caring for him were as confused as we were as to why this was happening. In my opinion it was a matter of this facility looking at his income and trying to free up a room for the next patient. I’m happy to report that fortunately we had the finances to move him to a place that he is thriving at. Understanding, sadly that isn’t the case for most people. My opinion on Fairhaven is they should listen more to the staff who actually are hands on with their residents and their families. As much as I understand it’s a business it’s so important to connect with the backbone of your business to continue to be successful. In my experience with my father it was all about money.
My mother was at Fairhaven for 14 years, in independent and assisted sections, and then in the nursing center. The staff, besides being very good at what they do, are kind and caring. While any kind of religious participation is completely voluntary, there is always an underlying sense of a desire to please Christ in all that is done, and all people are treated with respect. I recommend Fairhaven very highly.
I love most the residents they are so very sweet and kind, they all remind me of my grandparents and I love talking to them, hearing stories and getting their opinions on things I'm experiencing in life, in the other hand alot of the workers are rude, tell on others for things they do themselves, it's like they pick on certain employees and it's very unfair. If you say something it doesn't fix the issues and when you do great work try your very best and even get lots of compliments from the residents that they love your hard work and do a wonderful job, it seems as though it doesn't matter to the higher up only seem to point out the negative things and not the positive. Now how are you suppose to feel good about what you do and all the hard work you put in it's like it doesn't matter so makes you feel like " what's the point" that's all I hear is negative, but there are nice people there don't get me wrong just wish more credit would be given when the hard work and credit is due, and some employees don't realize just how much US!!! Housekeeper!! Do and clean and how long it actually does take to do a certain job or task, may sound like it's simple and easy but trust me it's much more then people think it involves! Fairhaven is pretty nice the residents make it pleasant. Thanks
Our experience can be best summed up with our May 2021 care conference when my brother asked if any staff could simply spend 5 minutes per day with our mom to counteract her perception that she does not get much attention. The reply was “No we are not staffed for that”. This has been the pattern over two years. First, in supportive care, another resident came into my mom’s room and ransacked her dresser three times. Nothing was done and this upset our mom who has vision loss, hearing loss and a degenerated knee, making it hard for her to find her things. Then an outsourced CNA revealed to us that the staff had an unflattering nickname for our mom - so hurtful. We never got an apology just “we will use this for teaching in the future”. You must be aware that Fairhaven is not certified for dementia care and if your relative develops dementia, the solution will be psychotropic meds and possible discharge. Oh, and if you think you are already at the most expensive rate on their fee chart, think again. We were charged $12,000 EXTRA for “one on one” care during the last month. The facility we transferred mom to had never seen such a high dose of psychotropic meds per body weight that our mom was given - EVER. During the last three weeks she was so drowsy she slept most of the time and only left her room when wheeled to a meal where she was sat at a table by herself.
