As a local business that prides itself on supporting families and their loved ones in their final stages of life, we have always gone above and beyond to provide the best care and service possible. However, I must express my deep frustration with the lack of professionalism and care demonstrated by Hearthside recently. Today, in an effort to assist a family dealing with the loss of their loved one, I reached out for information, only to be met with multiple hang-ups and an overall lack of assistance. This is not the level of service we expect from any business, particularly one entrusted with the well-being of vulnerable individuals. While we have previously worked closely with Hearthside, after recent experiences, I can no longer, in good conscience, recommend their services to anyone. If you or a loved one is in need of nursing home care, I strongly encourage you to explore other options. The families we serve deserve better, and it’s crucial that we hold all businesses accountable for the care and compassion they provide.

If you want to know what a place is like, ask a patient. That is what I am and have been here almost 3 months. I had to have my left leg amputated above the knee. I was diabetic and didn't know it. I was at another care facility in Philadelphia and they were not giving me the care I needed as requested by my surgeon. They were changing my bandages daily. I was told that from the time I would decide to have the surgery done, I should be able to get back on my feet in approximately 5 to 8 months and be back on my feet...fitted with an artificial leg and could get on with my life. I was there approximately 2 years and 4 months. I paid for an ambulance service over $2300.00 out of my own pocket to get here to Embassy. It took 2 months to find a place with an open bed/room. When I got here, they do an intake evaluation and found that my ' good leg ' had puss coming out of it in 3 different places. They immediately put me on antibiotics for 10 days and changed my bandages daily. For that I am grateful. The first nurse I met was Katelyn and she is terrific. But there are some serious issues that need corrected. They get money from the insurance/aide I am on and they take all of my Social security each month except for $45. Right now it is a little after 10 pm and there is a man, yelling at the top of his lungs and does this for hours. Sometimes all night. Usually every day. You can't sleep. My first week here he did this for a full day and a half....non stop. He has a mouth like a cannon. Any staff who thinks this should be tolerated, needs to spend a full week here so they can see what it's like. It's ridiculous. Why would you put someone like this on a floor where most people are normal and trying to get rest. They say he has dementia. They have a dementia section. Why isn't he put there?? I am 66 years old and in my right mind and make my own decisions. I have trouble getting something as simple as ice water and ice. That may not seem like a big deal to some, but it is when your flat on your back and can't get up to get it yourself. I've been told by the doctors here that I'm dehydrated and need to drink lots of water/fluids. I cannot drink warm water. Last night, I had an aide by the name of Ashley. I have to wear diapers for now and have the aides change me. I will call her Ashley #1. When she was done changing me, I told her I needed ice and water. She told me I'd have to " wait ". What she doesn't know is that earlier that day during 1rst shift, I went through the same crap. I asked for ice and ice water and was told I may have to wait because the ice cooler was still in the kitchen. An hour later, my nurse came in. I asked her to do something to get ice water. She said she would call the kitchen. Another hour went by. I used my cell phone and called into the building and told the operator to get someone to get ice water for me. I had ice water in 5 minutes. This is ridiculous. It's been about an hour and that man is still yelling. Non stop. I went through the same crap with this Ashley #1 two nights ago also. I said " Why do I have to wait?? ". She is the only aide who pulls this crap. She said something about she wasn't a servant!! I don't know where that came from. Then she said something about why would I want to deny 5 other people help. I guess she wanted me to feel guilty because she had other people to help. What does that have to do with me?? The night before I had to wait 10 minutes short of 3 hours to get ice and water. I had asked another aide at 5 PM and this Ashley a little after 6 pm. I got it 10 minutes before 8 pm. I had talked to the administrator about this and she said that when I ask for ice water, I should get it. I said to this woman, your an aide. You are to aid and assist your patients and you should finish with one before you go start on another. Alot of these aides say they will be back and then don't come back, or you have to call for them again. I've never seen or heard of such substandard patient care and all of my life. My mother was taken there and things were so bad we had to have her transported by ambulance back to the hospital until we can find a suitable place. They wouldn't give us the name of the manager and the woman who was rude from the beginning on the phone would not give us her name either. My mother was moved into a room that had blood on her pillow and on her sheet it was so nasty that the transport ambulance crew complained about it. Her dinner was served cold and when I tried to talk to her on the phone there was so much screaming and yelling in the background by employees that we couldn't carry on a good conversation. My family and I are both filing a complaint with the better Business bureau and contacting a lawyer
The staff here have very caring hearts, some are new and others are long timers. Very family oriented. The facility needs some physical appearances updated, however Embassy the owner is making improvements.
Embassy of Hearthside has been a fantastic place to work for. The atmosphere is friendly, they pay very well, and do a lot for their staff and residents. I highly recommend applying today!
