Just found out that my Grandma has been considering meeting her maker earlier than expected due to her not understanding any of the people caring for her and them not being able to understand her. I'm all for diversity but this is so unethical to have a company wide use of English issue. Maybe if they were paid a little above the minimum wage (same as McDonald's) to care for people with dementia there would be a higher respect for residents, carers and management alike

My Sister was beautifully cared for at The Lodge. The Staff in all areas were kind, courteous and thoughtful at all times to our dear Sue. Sue made some really lovely friends during her time at The Lodge. We were extremely grateful to the Staff, for their kindness and respect not only to Sue but to our family on our regular visits. The rooms, gardens and the cleanliness were important in our decision and we were not disappointed Thank you for looking after our beloved sister Sue. Judy and family .
I had a wonderful experience with my Mum at The Lodge. The staff were friendly to all residents and interactions were caring and compassionate. The rooms and facilities were all up to date and they are offer a wide range of activities for residents. Nothing was too much trouble and a carer always came within 10mins after using the call bell. The other residents were happy and friendly and interacted with each other too. I highly recommend The Lodge.
Dont be fooled by nice surroundings and up market area. Lack of staff, especially on weekends. Lack of basic cares. Lack of experienced carers, especially regarding confused residents. Second rate meals. All this for the bargain price of $475,000 for a small room and $2000 per month in fees!! I had several meetings with incidents that had occurred with my dad. Nothing ever changed. My dad is now in a lovely facility where there are adequate staff who are genuinely caring. It all starts at management and Eldercare is severly lacking in that department also.
I promised my father I would find a good place for him. I failed him. Our family was very disappointed. Poor communication and handovers between staff - and also with the family, with the same issues being brought up over and over. Although there was a handful of wonderful staff, generally below-par care due to chronic understaffing, bells that were never answered.
