My 77 year old dad was recently admitted for rehab after a massive surgery. With stage 4 colon cancer, and having recently lost his granddaughter to the same disease, he's been through a lot. Its been less than a week, but so far, the team has been responsive to his needs, attentive and friendly. Although its rustic, the place is clean, and the room is bright with a huge Bay Window. The food is okay and I'm unable to rate the rehab team right now because it's too soon, but I'll update soon. I'd say its top 3 in Staten Island, the others are private. Edit: its been 5 days now, a lot of what I reported remains true, unfortunately, they seem to be either understaffed on the floor, or simply unresponsive to patients call button. My dad now has a massive diaper rash, he told me he's been asking for help all day and when I arrived, I could smell the fowl oder from the hallway, found him laying in a soiled and wet diaper. I've been here over an hour and no one has responded to the call light. I was timing them to see how long they take to respond, but I'm not letting my dad stay this way. Let's see how they respond when I go to the nurses station...
The people who work there are excellent. They are patient and speak nicely to the residents. The place is a little rundown looking. Furniture etc. Not enough outlets to plug in phone. BUT as I said employees great with patients as far as I could see. My husband said food is not bad.
My mother’s never had anything negative to say about this place and believe me her business was of evaluating situation. She came from being an independent woman to being helpless and I’m very short. It was support staff, nurses, CNA and social worker that help her ease into the situation. I will be forever, grateful helping my mother where I couldn’t do because of my illness. Thank you.
The staff was warm, attentive, and clearly dedicated to the well-being of the residents. Therapist Leon very compassionate, which really helped ease the transition during a difficult time. Ms Goddie and Liala are wonderful so loving to there patients. We need more people like them in eger.
