5 stars I highly, highly recommend this nursing and rehab facility. My mother stayed here, and the care she received was outstanding. The staff is incredibly friendly, compassionate, and truly treats every resident like family. The facility is always clean, fresh, and well maintained. You can tell they prioritize both health and comfort. From the nurses to the aides to the reception team, everyone was attentive, helpful, and so kind. My mother felt safe, supported, and genuinely cared for during her stay. I’m beyond grateful to the entire team. If you’re looking for a place where your loved one will be in great hands, this is it.

I DO NOT Recommend at all this facility. It falsifies that it is a 5 start center when it’s the total opposite. The only area that is nice is the lobby that looks like a hotel. Aside from that when you get onto the floors and rooms, is when the reality sets in. I witnessed so much in the few hours I was there with my mother. Patients being neglected, nurses/aids with attitudes, rooms dirty, sticky floors, the floors completely smelling like urine as soon as elevator doors open. An aid by the name of Donna came into my mom’s room and loudly with attitude told her to stand up so they can check her and weigh her. My mom was unable to walk or stand on her own. She hadn't noticed that I was in the room. As soon as she saw me, her attitude changed. May I share that the patients have no privacy. The bathrooms have no doors at all. So if the patients have a Roomate, the Roomate see’s everything. The best was seeing how a patient across from my mom’s room had pressed the help button and the alarm went off for 20 minutes. I witnessed 2 aids stand in front of the patients room, put on their jackets and go off on break. Yes 20 minutes after, my mom pressed the assistance button and can you believe we waited 40 minutes and still no one came. I walked out to the desk and no one in site. I walked around the entire floor and the aids were all on break together in a room just laughing. It broke my heart to see so many patients being neglected and asking for help. I had to go downstairs to the desk to request a wheelchair or walked to take my mother and sign her out. When I talked to the supervisor she tried her very best to have my mom stay because in reality all these places care about is the money they get from insurances and families paying out of pocket for the patients. They wanted me to sign a document that said we were leaving against medical advice. How dare this facility request a family to sign something like that when they didn’t even attend to my mom once. We weren’t leaving against medical advice, we left because this facility and its workers are unprofessional, incompetent and unsanitary. Not one smile from any of the aids at all. Oh I did forget to share how the entire floor was so HOT like a sauna. So between the horrible heat and smell of urine it was unbearable. The supervisor Angelique and an aid by the name of Juliet, cared more about checking my mom than her needs. A man by the name of Ben Steinman, Director of Marketing from this facility had the audacity to portray this facility to mom at her hospital bed (without any consent or permission from her family) as if it is a 5 start location. Yes I am also in talks with the hospital that my mom stayed at to see how people like this are permitted under HIPPA and confidentiality and most importantly legally in the state of NY to just walk into patients room who have or not have Healthcare Proxy’s. I am also in talks with state, health officials and local government officials to make sure that facilities like this aren’t allowed to act like this and get away with it. Families beware that it is absolutely horrible and truly unacceptable to send families here.
This is not a 5 star facility. I was sold the Brooklyn Bridge by a snake oil salesman....The marketing director. This is not a Luxury Care Center. I would never ever recommend this place. The marketing director LIED to me. I asked do they offer neurorehabilitation and he said yes. When my sister arrived there she was placed on the memory floor aka dementia floor. She does not have dementia. She described being searched when she arrived. When she was placed in a room on the 3rd floor and the room was dirty. The toilet room is shared between 4 women. When I told them I was taking her home because of the unsanitary conditions, the social worker said I could not take her home. I asked if my sister was being held hostage and do I have to call the police. We made an agreement to move her to a different room providing the marketing director orders a full length mirror so she can change her dressing herself. The marketing director did a bait and switch. He ordered 5 peel and stick mirror tiles. In the new room I have told them 4 times about the leak from the toilet which they have not fixed. The floor was wet and a maintenance worker told me not worry about the water on the floor. I told him my sister is a fall risk. All they care about is getting money from Medicare. They stress Medicare pays 100% for the first 20 days. The social worker director lies. The Nurse Practitioner is arrogant and obnoxious. He was upset because I had challenged his medical opinion. They did a PPD and no one came back to check the result. They wanted to know if my sister was a veteran and how much is her pension. I told them it is non of their business. I was told she would 45 minutes of PT and 45 minutes of OT. That was a lie. She only received 30 minutes of PT twice. When I told them I wanted her discharged the social claimed she never said my sister couldn't leave. And if she left she could not get visiting nurse services at home. The aides are very nice. If I could rate less than a star I would. The nurse wanted to stand at the door and peek at his vent patient in the other bed. I told him to walk to the bed to monitor her. The dr wanted to give my sister Nsaid even though she had on a red bracelet for Allergies and on the red bracelet it says allergic to NSAID. When you walk in the first floor has a luxurious feeling. I only toured the first 2 floors. Floor 3 the dementia unit is run down. I choose peace everyday and they chose to bring out my anger every time I had to deal with the social worker or nurse practitioner. They are not consistent with treatment. No direct care plan. My sister was on a renal diet and they would give her salty food. I had to get my sister out of there after 7 days. Again they wanted to fill a bed to get the 20k from Medicare for the 3 weeks. Stay away from this place.

My father, John, was a patient on the first floor of Dumont from 12/24 until discharge 4/3. We are very grateful to the nurses, aides, physical, speech and occupational therapists, recreation team, social worker, housekeepers, dietary team and receptionists for everything they do! We have experienced other subcute rehabs in the area but you guys are the best. Thank you for always taking the calls and helping him to get back home!
