The staff in the admissions and discharge departments are very helpful and friendly. They do a really great job of addressing any concerns that patients and their families may have. The activities for the elderly come up with fun and creative ways to keep it fun and entertaining. The food is homemade daily. Their physical therapy department has some great therapists working to get immobile patients back to being able to function on their own. What I love most about Downey Post Acute, is their staff cares about making sure your loved one is taken care of and satisfied with their skilled and rehabilitation care.

Sure! Here’s a thoughtful and appreciative review: Our family is incredibly grateful for the outstanding care our father-in-law received at Downey Post Acute. From the moment he arrived, the staff went above and beyond to ensure he was comfortable, well-cared for, and treated with kindness and respect. A special thank you to Maria, the Director of Nursing, whose dedication and compassion truly made a difference. She leads an amazing team that provides exceptional care, and it shows in every interaction. The nurses, therapists, and support staff were always attentive, professional, and supportive, making sure all of our concerns were addressed. We couldn’t have asked for a better experience during a challenging time. If you’re looking for a post-acute facility that genuinely cares for its patients, we highly recommend come here.
My experience with Downey Post Acute, where my mother recently stayed, was mixed. It's not the worst nursing facility, but it's far from the best. While there are some exceptional staff members, there are serious issues that make it difficult to fully trust the care provided. Visitation Policy Creates Barriers One of the most frustrating aspects of this facility is their requirement for a COVID test every time you visit. This is unheard of in other medical facilities in California and creates unnecessary delays for family members trying to see their loved ones--often at critical moments. Lack of Leadership and Poor Physician Care The facility's director, Jason, has an on-site office but is not actively involved in patient care. The resident physician, Dr. Lamont, has an extremely poor bedside manner. When I questioned my mother's medication dosage, she argued with me instead of addressing my concerns professionally. After he left the room, a nurse admitted that this kind of behavior was common and often led to confusion. Caring Staff Members Amidst Inconsistencies in Care There are some truly wonderful people working at Downey Post Acute, including nurse Cesar, nursing assistants Alma and Anna, and speech therapist Kate. However, unless you are physically present every day to advocate for your loved one, their care may suffer. I repeatedly had to request that my mother be cleaned up, and on multiple occasions, she was left unkempt. One day, after being given a shower, she was brought back to bed still soaking wet, with wet clothes, and was freezing. Concerns About Physical Therapy The physical therapy staff was kind, but they refused to allow me into the therapy gym to observe my mother's progress. I had no choice but to take their word for it. Now that she is home, I find it hard to believe she was actually walking 30-50 feet as they claimed. She can barely take a few steps, was never taught how to swivel to get out of bed properly, and never learned how to get into a car. A Preventable ER Visit After her first night at the facility, my mother was sent to the emergency room due to an issue that could have been avoided entirely. The staff failed to provide her blood pressure medication on time, which caused a dip in her blood pressure, triggering an unnecessary hospital visit. We spent eight hours in the ER only for her to recover naturally after finally receiving her medication. Personal Belongings Went Missing Unfortunately, theft appears to be an issue at this facility. My mother's bouquet of flowers--brought to celebrate her birthday--was stolen from her room the very next day. This was especially disheartening. Additionally, after just one day, one of her shirts went missing. I requested it multiple times, but no one ever followed through. A Final Warning: Suspicious Reviews People should be aware that I strongly suspect most of the Google reviews for Downey Post Acute are fake. As a digital media professional, I know how easy it is to falsify reviews, and based on my analysis, it appears that many of their positive reviews were likely written by their own staff. This facility does not match the glowing reputation reflected in those reviews. Final Thoughts While there are some dedicated staff members at Downey Post Acute, the facility's poor management, lack of proper patient advocacy, and inconsistent care make it difficult to recommend. If you have a loved one here, be prepared to be their voice and advocate every single day.
09-05-2019⭐ 09-12-2019 ⭐⭐ 09-25-2019 ⭐⭐⭐ This facility didn't satisfy my expectations!... My mom is still there at Room 31-C but i am thinking of transferring her to another facility she was admitted September 5, 2019. Due to my very busy schedule i decided to put my mom temporarily to a rehabilitation for her to recover from her Left Robotic knee arthroplasty (Total Knee Replacement) and she got a lot of medical issues that is why i want her to be well and well taking care of while I'm away but i was totally disappointed on what is going on right now, because my mom keep on calling me because she badly needed a HELP to get up and do her thing, she's so weak right now but i know she's trying to do her best to be well, she's always telling me that nobody cares for her if she needs something, she's always calling by the light button but still nobody's coming to attend on what she needs, so what is that? "A NURSING HOME NEGLECT?" That is not good even under our LAW here, and one thing they're 3 beds on her room and all the visitors coming to visit the patient on the bed nearby they're all too loud and nobody could bring their tone down eventhough they're aware of there somebody on the other bed that is really sick and needs some peace and quiet place to heal. I will just post some update when I'm back to that place to see what's going on with my mom. The only staff that talked to me nicely is Abby the filipina LVN the one who process my mom's admission, Juvy the filipina PT who assessed my mom, Michelle the RN that fix my mom's medication and tries to calm my mom the first night she was their because she's really not comfortable being their alone and thinking that nobody cares for her at all and John Bailey RN who listens to my mom when he's on duty. I loved my mom, that's why all i wanted is for her to be comfortable enough on where she's right now until she's fully recovered, but if this things won't go through in accordance with what is Post Acute Care/ Nursing/ Rehabilitation/ Home is all about maybe i have to do something, so that everybody must be aware that you have to do your job well most especially if you're working in a Rehabilitation Facility to do CARE for somebody who's in NEED. Written: September 8, 2019 1425H Update: 09-12-2019 ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ This is for Ms. Catherine, RN the DON; Ms. Jocelyn, Case Worker ; Mr. Mark, PTA; Ms. Juvy, PT Director Ms. Tracy, CNA and Her Daughter Ms. Brianne, CNA They are all very nice to mom and very attentive... Written : September 26, 2018 1045H Update: 09-25-2019 ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ This is for Ms. Rhea Reyes, RN Supervisor that helps mom for her take home medications and for processing her smooth discharge from facility. and to Mr. Hector the Maintenance guy and a friend that helps mom all the time on cleaning and assisting what mom's wants to be cleaned in her room while she's staying in this facility. THANK YOU everyone for all the memories and all the help that you've given to my mom while I'm away from her. I really do appreciate your effort and patience, i know it's not easy working in a medical field but you guys really did a great job to mom. GOD BLESS YOUR HEART!
