Lovely place and position. I did an hour spot of entertaining. Lovely welcome and appreciation from Staff and residents.
Our mum stayed at Doutta Gala - Avondale Heights for three months and was looked after very well. All the staff were lovely; the carers/nurses were very caring and warm. No matter who we spoke to in the facility, from the laundry staff when looking for coat hangers, to the cleaners, admin and management, we found everyone was helpful & friendly. This facility has lots of light, lots of windows overlooking the gully, and a few beautiful outdoor undercover garden areas with decking, which mum used to enjoy. The games room had lots of puzzles, which we enjoyed putting together with mum too. We believe this is one of the better aged care facilities & a place that we have recommend to family & friends. The only thing we would recommend, and this goes for all the care facilities, is to have a few more activities per day. They all have have an activity, like bingo, music, etc.. though usually only once per day..We feel that the elderly need more opportunities throughout the day to engage with others, as it helps prevent loneliness and cognitive decline .. just a thought
So nice to see that staff are caring,kind and there work is in line with clients in mind.my mother is a resident here who can be trying at times but it seems that they keep her busy and happy most of the time. A special thank you to all that try there very best and remember that one day we will all need people in our lives who care and have time for our special needs. God bless xxx
I wouldn’t recommend this place to anyone! My 98 year old grandmother was treated so poorly, left her in her room with no help at all, even forgot to give her her medication…NOT ON!!! 😞 Think twice before putting your loved one in here.
