I moved my mother about three weeks ago from another local assisted living facility to DeSoto Palms in Sarasota. I can already see that she is getting better care and more attention than the previous facility. They have a very dedicated team at Desoto Palms, the Executive Director and her Department Directors are always available to assist and have been very helpful to me during my mothers transition. The staff members have been incredible and oftentimes I can see that they are building a relationship with my mother to make her feel as comfortable as possible. Im grateful that I made this move for my mother, she has agreed that she is getting better care at DeSoto Palms. My mother is not completely comfortable yet meeting new people but the Directors and staff are working deligently to help her along. If you have a loved one who needs a little help, consider DeSoto Palms, you wont be sorry, its a little gem tucked away off of Honore Ave.

I moved my mother to DeSoto Palms 5 months ago. I was extremely nervous as she lived with me the last 10 years. The experience has been absolutely amazing! My mother has made so many friends, goes to at least 3 activities a day and enjoys 3 wonderful meals a day. The nursing staff is very responsive and knowledgeable. The Administrator is always available and open to all suggestions. I waited to write this review in case we were in a honeymoon period but it remains an exceptional experience. I wish I had made the move for my mother sooner, I have watched her come back to the vibrant funny lady she was before my Dad died.
Very happy with the care and family feel when I come see my Dad. It's nice walking in and the staff knows who I am and tells me where to find my dad and what hes been doing. He enjoys all the activities and loves when the director brings her dogs in to visit . I recommend Desoto Palms to everyone that is seeking a good place for their parents .
I bring a different perspective - that of an observer. I take my dog there for pet therapy. I knew no one who lived there and I knew none of the staff when I started going there. My experiences have all been positive. - The place is clean with nice amenities. - No issue with parking. - Staff seems to truly care about the residents. They seem to be hard working. I've never seen any of the staff idle unless they are speaking with a resident. - The residents seem to be happy there. They speak highly of Jody, who directs activities. - Speaking of activities, the residents tell me about all of the activity options they are given and it blows me away. I have been there right after the residents have assisted in cookie making. They seem to enjoy making and eating them, and it makes the place smell so good! If I ever know of anyone who is looking for an assisted living facility, I will definitely recommend DeSoto Palms to them. I feel fortunate to have found this facility to volunteer in. My dog also seems to look forward to going to "work" and I hear the residents look forward to our visits.
This was the second ALF that my mother has lived in and i cannot speak highly enough about the wonderful experience that we have had. The staff is caring and friendly, the management is accommodating and the rooms are spacious and well maintained. If you or a loved one is looking for a well managed affordable assisted living facility, you definitely have to check this place out.
