Do not let your family be placed here. After surgery this place was selected for my skilled nursing facility for the duration of my recovery. My pain management was neglected as well as my need for a bedside commode to minimize weight on my knees during transferring. In order to use the restroom elsewhere than on myself I had to transfer out of bed to a wheelchair, then to a toilet, back to the chair and back into bed. The staff did not assist with lifting or transferring. It was almost 8 hours sitting there without pain management before a call was even made to the doctor to get my medicine pushed through.

I was impressed with my first visit to Desert Springs Healthcare. The facility is clean, and the staff was friendly and responsive. The visitor security system is easy and made me feel that my loved one is safe. Nursing homes are never easy to manage and they always seem to get a bad rap. I’ll be visiting a lot and I’m looking forward to good interactions with the staff and residents.
My sister was transferred here 5 days after having surgery. The facility is in poor condition. The smell when you walk in is awful. The staff does not prioritize patient care. She arrived and was there for over 8 hours with no pain medication and was told that "hopefully" the DR would approve the prescription that evening. Not until I called and complained did they even attempt to do anything to get her pain medication. Continually making excuses for the lack of action from the D.O.N. and the nurse and the DR who the nurse stated only comes once a month! When I informed them that my sister needed to be transferred back to JFK they told us it wouldn't happen that night and then randomly a transport showed up and took her back to JFK WITHOUT notifying them that they were taking her to them! DO NOT ALLOW YOUR FAMILY, FRIENDS OR YOUR WORST ENEMY TO GO HERE!!
Went to visit a friend and as I walked in one of the girls helped me sign in using the kiosk. A visitors pass was printed given to me. As I walked towards my friend’s room the place is so clean and the staff attend to their patients very quickly. They greet their patients as they walk by. Very nice place for the elderly.
Everyone from the front door, front desk, hallway, patio and PT room were cheerful and friendly, eager to assist me as a visitor. The facility was busy, and I found it easy to get around. Clean and tidy as well. A very good experience.
