The furniture in my mother in law’s room. Dresser drawers will not stay closed. Stained table top. Laminate chipping off the corners of bed frame and dresser. They say there is a beauty shop but good luck getting an appointment. I’ve been trying for 1 1/2 months to get a podiatrist to see her with no luck. I don’t have power over her affairs or she’d be gone out of here.

The facility is poorly maintained. Took 4 days to get a TV working, and still not working correctly. No appearance of housekeeping, trash cans have nit been emptied in common areas forb6 days with food in them. Feces on the floor in the room, half empty soda bottles in the patient lounge, candy wrappers no one has cleaned since I came to visit my loved one. Moving her out to a nicer facility Not fit for humans.Sad this is where we place people to improve their health.
My mother is so young to be placed in memory care but unfortunately that's her story. We have been in and out of every place around the St.Charles area. I have been so happy with the care she has received at Delmar Gardens. The two head nurses are the best. They provide so much love and friendship for my mother. She loves being around them. Her main caregiver has quickly become her BFF. I could go on and on. She has been made to feel welcomed since arrival. I have been very happy with Delmar Gardens.
Do not place your loved ones in this facility! My parents were in there just over a month. Gave my Dad the wrong medication and almost killed him. Understaffed and the place is unkept and filthy. Had to come and make sure my parents got their meals, otherwise they would probably just starve. My mom was crying in pain and the nurse wouldn’t even come and look at her. I had to go to the front office to get someone to check on her. My Dad ended up in the hospital and the case workers there said they never send anyone to Delmar Gardens and have had multiple problems with the doctor there. He is the one who put my Dad on the wrong medication. We moved them to a different facility.
Minimal staffing present. Most of the workers are rude and hostile to the patients/residents. Immobile patients/residents are left in their beds without position changes or assistance to the bedside commode. No staffing at night. One of the staff members was really aggressive with my family member, rushing her to the toilet and aggressively undressing her in a rush. He did the same to my family member’s roommate and hurt her in the process. The roommate reported the worker. That night he name back and said, “I know you reported me and you don’t have to worry, I won’t be doing anything for you anymore”… The bathrooms are left in filthy condition (dirty clothing and used hygiene product left behind on the floors). Patients/residents that need assistance with feeding themselves are wheeled to the dining area and left at the table by themselves. My family member (a patient) assisted other people to eat, spoon to mouth, because the staff left them there alone. If she didn’t help them, the staff would have just come back and wheeled those patients back to their room stating, “I guess they aren’t hungry”. This is a sad excuse for a skilled nursing facility and the management needs to do better. Shame on you.
