My elderly relative has been a patient here since fracturing her hip. The facility is very clean and provides excellent care. The nurses and social workers are very helpful and attentive. Gilbert who leads the recreational activities is the best. My family appreciates that there are so many activities and programs geared for Korean speakers. Extremely Disappointed with the Care at Del Amo Gardens My mother was admitted to Del Amo Gardens Skilled Nursing Facility in January 2024 after a hip replacement surgery to receive physical therapy. Initially, she seemed to be recovering well, but after a few weeks, her condition began to decline rapidly. Shockingly, no one from the staff contacted me or took the initiative to investigate why this was happening. I eventually contacted her doctor, who advised taking her to the emergency room immediately. However, when I arranged this, the head nurse dismissed my concerns, insisting it wasn’t necessary and claiming my mother was stable. Unfortunately, I was out of town at the time and relying on updates from family who visited. Weeks passed, and my mother’s condition continued to worsen. Instead of addressing the issue, the staff essentially gave up, assuming she was nearing the end of her life—which was outrageous and unacceptable. I finally flew back home and took her to the emergency room myself. To my horror, it turned out she had a brain hemorrhage that had been completely overlooked. The brain injury caused severe cognitive decline, and my mother’s recovery was slow and painful. After spending weeks in the hospital, she had to return to Del Amo Gardens temporarily. However, the neglect and lack of proper care were undeniable. I ended up bringing her home and taking on her care myself because I could no longer trust the staff there. The level of neglect at this facility is appalling. It’s clear that patient well-being is not a priority. I would strongly caution anyone considering Del Amo Gardens for their loved ones. My experience there in January 2024 was heartbreaking and left my family feeling deeply let down.
This review is about my nurse Valerie. I was in room 6B and I was assigned to her patients. Valerie is attentive, professional, kind, and a very sweet person. I am completely grateful for her, she made my stay easy and pleasant. Thank you for her help kindness.
Placed my mom here recently for rehab. and have been very happy with the nurses and all the support staff. Facility does seem to have like 70% Korean residents but that is fine. Facility is clean and I feel safe having my mom there.
My mom has been at del amo gardens twice now and both times my mom has loved the people there, the nurses, physical therapists, doctors and staff. I’ve watched her getting physical therapy as well and she seems to be in better physical condition than before she even went into del amo gardens, before her accident! They’ve also set a time for me to learn the exercises to go over with my mom even after she gets home to keep up with her physical therapy! Her IPA, Mary (with del amo gardens) has kept me well informed thoroughly with her health, medical conditions, etc through her whole stay in rehab. They are so attentive, cheerful, friendly and warm. And they knew exactly how to keep her feeling comfortable and confident! She’s eating great and getting stronger everyday, and is so happy and comfortable there, she even says she wants to stay until they feel she’s ready to come home (even longer if she could :)), coming from someone who would rather be at home than hospital or rehab and that’s saying a lot! Thank you so much del amo gardens & staff for taking such great care of my mom and being so kind to her as well as us, her family and visitors!
