DePaul Manor Estate Retirement Village has deteriorated greatly in the last 12 months. There are supposed to be rules on how visiting family members use the facilities in the complex but they are not enforced. While elderly residents are in the pool young children are permitted jump in and out of the pool while the parents do nothing. This is a danger to the elderly residents, many of whom are very fragile and would be injured if a visiting child jumped on them. The children are also allowed to play with the settings on the spa. Outside family members have free access to barbecues and seating areas and no priority is given to the residents. The so-called Retreat area is frequently noisy. Complaints to management who are often unsympathetic can fall on deaf ears. The units in the lower part of the estate are adjacent to a wooded area and snakes frequently find their way onto balconies and even into units of these lower areas. Again complaints fall on deaf ears. Surely barriers could be installed to prevent black snakes and other dangerous species from coming through into complex grounds. It is difficult for elderly residents to complain as they may feel that they will be victimized if they do.

After residing at De Paul Manor Estate for more than five years we realise for our age it was the best move we could have made. We continue to use the great facilities and enjoy the many and varied social activities on offer. With the increase in residents many lasting friendships have been made. The Residents Retreat is the ideal area to meet and greet residents and friends alike. Our apartment is comfortable and spacious - we consider the 24 hour security is an important factor to our well being. The management team are friendly and competent in all aspects of manor life. This ensures the smooth operation of the day to day functioning of the Manor. Life here is great and we are looking forward to spending the rest of our lives in this facility.
