I love CHRC. Such a wonderful and loving environment from my coworkers to the residents. I most definitely recommend coming by and bringing your family members for the upmost care! :)

My father spent a month at CHRC following two surgeries for an abdominal aortic aneurysm and limited mobility due to osteoarthritis in his lower back. Initially, I had a lot of hope for him because of all the positive reviews I'd previously read. However, my father wasn't too thrilled with his stay, and I can't blame him in hindsight. First, he didn't enjoy the food at all. It was his biggest complaint. In fact, he skipped many meals and lost about 20 lb as a result. He looked forward to meals and snacks I brought during my visits with him. I must admit the food there didn't look very appetizing, so I can vouch for him on that. Second, he would've preferred therapy catered to his specific needs. He lucked out with one therapist, Maria, who worked with him 1-on-1 on regaining his balance and stamina, but my father felt the group activities were a waste of time because they mostly bounced a medicine ball back and forth. He didn't find that helpful or beneficial in his particular case. Third, I've had no luck in trying to arrange continued in-home therapy for my father despite the fact it's available to him. I've called Dina in discharge three times and left a voicemail each time in the past two weeks without any response or follow-up. I'd like my father to continue PT at home because there's only so much I can do with him on my own. I'm grateful to Maria and all the nurses who did their best to accommodate my father during his rehab and recovery. But overall, neither he nor I were impressed with the entire experience. And I have to admit the facility looks very dated and dingy. I'm not sure Culpeper being a small town is really an excuse (I'm from nearby Fredericksburg). Frankly, I kind of dreaded visiting my father for that reason alone. I appreciate those who made a sincere effort in helping my father, but the facility definitely leaves a lot to be desired.
I wish I could give 0 stars, my mother has been a resident there for 4 or 5 years now. Let me begin with the medical issues that have been ignored by them for years now she scratches at her face in her head literally all day everydayThey see this happening and do nothing about it my sister took her to the dermatologist before and got some shampoo that she needed to use every day and they wouldn't allow her to do that she's had a UTI for years that for some reason they can't seem to get under control sometimes it's much worse than others but it has never gone away there is the fact that while she has been there she has been robbed three occasions that I can think of to the tune of more than $500 each time they're always out of the Depends in the size that she needs so we often have to buy them for her on the day she should be provided with clean sheets often they do not have clean sheets available when she does her laundry there more times than not her clothes are missing the food that is served has dropped in quality in such a way they should honestly be ashamed of themselves although the menu says everyday they get juice they only get it once a week they don't receive milk everyday my mother is a diabetic and one day for lunch she told me she had a hamburger with a bun an extra roll on the side and mashed potatoes all in the same meal but yet they give her grief for her blood sugar as if she has any options available to her but to eat what they serve and my sister is the one that has my mother's medical power of attorney and she is often not informed when something has happened they never return phone calls and they're very rude to her when she does get them on the phone every time I talk to my mom she sounds more and more miserable I asked her does she want to go somewhere else but this is what she's become used to she has some friends there and since she's 82 years old she doesn't want to move she is just resigned herself to the fact that she's going to be miserable for the rest of her days it's incredibly sad oh and also she's supposed to be able to get $50 a day in cash from her account but by the time she gets down there they're always out of money they know that she is going to come and ask for $50 a day so you would think by now they would make sure they have it available but they don't they don't ever seem to take even the slightest step towards Improvement do yourself a favor and look elsewhere I apologize for the lack of punctuation this was voice texted and I want to get it posted
I'm an R.N. & this is the worst facility I have ever seen. I would have given it 0 stars if that were an option. My father was there for 2 days way to long. He suffered tremendously under their care. He had a total of 10 falls during his short stay & was left on the floor, where he tried to pull himself along the floor to get back to bed. Take a look at the injuries he sustained to his feet, while trying to get back to bed. His Foley catheter tubing was secured with a white plastic trash bag tied around his leg. The Foley bag itself was just left laying on the dirty floor. Totally unacceptable care of geriatric patients that are there for rehabilitation. Please heed my warning & never take your loved one to this facility. They should be shut down permanently! Shelley Havener, R.N.
I have known this team for almost ten years now and most of them are still there working together as a team to always make sure the residents are safe, happy and taken care of. If I had a family member that needed a facility Culpeper Health & Rehab would be the choice.
