My grandmother has lived in the Villa for a couple of years and was at the Waterford a few years before that. Before that she was in the rehab center. She really loved the Waterford. She was able to have her dog there and an apartment on the main level. She loved the regular meals and staff at Drakes. But then her health declined and she needed to add services. The Waterford is not designed for people who need more and more immediate services as their hallways are long and residents spread apart. Aides aren’t able to get to people as quickly because of this. It was recommended, in a very nice way, that because of those limitations, she should move to the Villa. We moved her over there and added more services. A big complaint is that the meals at the Villa are not very healthy and seem like it is mainly the same thing (I’m thinking of the breakfasts) with a little bit of variation. Most of the staff is really great. There were a couple that were downright rude and disrespectful but they are gone now. The biggest challenge is when there is turn over, you have to train in people all over again. One aide put my grandmother’s Depends on backwards the other day and didn’t investigate when she complained it didn’t feel right. But overall I think my grandmother has a pretty good team that communicate with me when needed. This is a for profit facility so there are a lot of charges. Be sure to ask about packages like for laundry. If you can’t go pick up a package from the delivery area, it will cost $6 for someone to bring it to you. Having the chapel on sight is wonderful. Plus having access to the rehab center for physical or occupational therapy is so helpful.

Updated for the 5th month. I am now officially convinced that no one in upper management really cares to address legitimate concerns about their staff. If you unfortunately find yourself in need of a care facility, do your research. Country Manor is not the only option. There are facilities that care about their residents. I realized after an abundance of time Country Manor isn't one of them. Update: It has been over one month since I posted this review. No one from Country Manor has contacted me, yet in other reviews they claim to put the residents first and want to learn from the review process. That doesn't seem to apply in this case. If you have issues brought to your attention and you choose to not address them, how are people reading the reviews supposed to make an informed decision? Things happen, people make mistakes. Not addressing any issue is a big and lasting mistake. It appears what Laura Hood did is an excepted practice by Country Manor. Original post: The first thing I want to say post has nothing to do with any of the staff other than Laura Hood. She is the social worker for the rapid recovery unit. I was quoted a price of $15,000 per month as a price for the care currently needed. I contacted other facities to check on their pricing. I wasn't able to get exact pricing because I didn't have a referral from Laura Hood. I was advised to get a copy of the referral for myself so I could take it to facilities and get their prices on the current care needed. I was also told Laura Hood was not good at sending referrals out. Laura said she would fax copies to the two facilities that requested the information. She also said she would get me a copy. I contacted the facilities the next day and was told they hadn't received anything. I contacted Laura Hood again and left a message. I contacted the facilities again the next day and was told they still haven't received anything. Laura left me a message that I was supposed to meet with her the following Wednesday and she would send the information to the facilities after the meeting. She was out of the office until Wednesday. Seven days were lost in being able to find a facility because of Laura Hoods decision. I went to the meeting on Wednesday and was assured the information would be sent and I would get a copy of the information. After the meeting l went to the nurse's desk and was told they didn't have the copy of the information I wanted. I contacted Laura Hood and was told I needed to fill out a form which then had to be reviewed by someone before I could get the information. I went home without the information. More time lost. I started making phone calls and was given a number for a state agency that will look into it. I also contacted Laura Hoods supervisor. After meeting with the supervisor I was given the information with an apology for the time I wasted on something that should have been simple. I left the meeting with the referral. The first place I went I apologized for the delay in getting them the information. I was told they also have had difficulties getting information sent from Laura Hood. I was also told that because Laura Hood didn't give me the information sooner the spot had to be given to another person. I am not through getting to the bottom of why Laura Hood is refusing to get the information to other people and facilities. I am one person to come forward about the lack of professionalism Laura Hood has shown. I have been told by three facilities that I'm not the only person to have difficulties with Laura Hood. I have requested that other facilities contact Laura Hoods supervisor. The state is also getting involved. I invite anyone from Country Manor to contact me. Again my concerns are not with anything or anyone else. The concerns are with Laura Hood purposely obstructing my efforts and others efforts in finding a proper facility in a timely manner. If anyone has had this type of issue, or any other issue, you can call Dan Tupy at 218-855-8729. Dan is with the State of Minnesota.
My in-laws have moved here to enjoy the next chapter of their lives. It is a beautiful place!
Our step-father has been a resident in the independent living section. Lots of activities for residents. Many plans of care to choose from that are a bit confusing and expensive, but comparable to other places. Amazing capacity to switch levels of care as needed. Drakes is a good restaurant and there is a full pharmacy. The common laundry room needs to be updated. We have been very happy with the place. PS you get a discount at Americinn if you say you are visiting Country Manor!
My Mother was Admitted from St Cloud Hospital, Room 531 rapid rehab, She had been previously at Talahi. I need not say more. I would like your staff, including Nicole RN supervisor and Social Worker to know how much we appreciate their professional yet caring and compassionate service. This is the best I've ever seen in this setting. I am a 35 year veteranof nursing and the staff at Country Manor are exceptional.
