My mother went to live in the memory care unit at Country Cottages and it has been nothing but positive. It was one of the hardest decisions I’ve ever made, but it has worked out really well. It feels like a home, the food is good, and they will take care of any special accommodations that are needed.

Currently, our Dad is a resident at Country Cottages. He has been here for over a year. I would highly recommend them to anyone (and have). From the moment I had the first phone call…meeting at home…in house meeting…we have felt it was the right decision. When I visit my Dad, he has a smile on his face, which makes me happy! My sister and I care the most about how he is treated. The staff are lovely and treat him like part of the family! I love talking to them. Shout out to Sierra, Tabatha, Wanda, Pepper, Kelli, Anne, and Kelly!! When he was sick, they treated him like I would. We love the staff! ❤️They make all the difference! They are kind, caring, and compassionate!! ❤️ Some have been here for five years. If you are looking for a homey vibe which is like a cottage, look no further than Country Cottages. There are only 16 residents to a cottage which encourages them to know each other. I love the others residents too. I have had the privilege of socializing with them as well. ❤️ Holidays and birthdays are special too. The activities coordinator, Kristy does a fantastic job! The residents are included when they decorate for the seasons, which make them feel like it is their home, because it is.
When you do a tour you should know they don’t tell the truth. Rooms are cheaper for a reason. It’s all about the money to that company. There are resident assistants who scream at and degrade the memory care residents when they don’t do as they are told. The resident assistants are not trained to work around dementia patients who don’t understand or can’t remember. If a resident can’t feed themselves anymore the resident assistants are told not to feed them but they won’t let them go to another place with a higher level of care because they want to keep them paying for their room. They only have a few nurses and most are ok but they don’t work around the clock like the families are promised. They work during the day only and not available at night and some weekends. Residents get their stuff stolen and when you report anything you get targeted. They make up rules as they go along and lie to families just to get them to rent a room. It’s always short staffed and I don’t think they do background checks on anyone before they hire them. One employee was living in one of the resident’s rooms and was taking a shower during the middle of a tour in the show room while she was on the clock and supposed to be working with residents. She is still employed there. During a tour they make it seem like the most wonderful place for the elderly, but it’s all smoke and mirrors, so buyers beware!
My mother-in-law has been at the Huntsville location of Country Cottage since 2006. She loves it there. It is more like home than a facility which is why we chose this location. The employees here are so kind and they go beyond their job duties. It’s more like a family!
Im a musician who came in short notice to entertain for a holiday show. Still not paid for performing, which is too bad because I know the residents enjoyed it and I would love to go back. 10 days at most is industry standard for payment. Musicians Beware - COD only. So sad for the residents -
