My mother-in-law just passed away at The Cottages. She died at 91 and her death was inevitable. Her death was in no way the staff's fault. I can't say enough good things about the staff and facility as a whole. Their caring is very genuine. We moved my mother-in-law from another facility that was neglecting her. Her condition rebounded very quickly. As much as can be expected given her age and dementia, she thrived at The Cottages. We were really amazed at her improvement both physically and mentally while she was at The Cottages. Her ENT and dentist both commented how much better her hygiene was at The Cottages. Our dentist reported the other place to the state after my mother-in-law was safely at The Cottages. Every day she was on hospice we were so grateful for The Cottages. The Cottages and Horizon Hospice (their partner provider) are both awesome. Dementia is a horrible disease. But the kindness, professional skill, and genuine empathy of the staff at The Cottages will always be a loving memory in our hearts.

My mother was recently placed at this facility. I've only come here twice so far to visit my mother. Some staff are very nice that I've encountered and some need work. This recent encounter happened this evening after bringing my mother back from a day visit w family. When I came to get her before noon the staff was very pleasant and I explained that I was taking her out for the day, and we would b back later ...she gave me my mom's med and we left without a hitch....up on returning, I was greeted by the med tech of my mom's building, who took her sweet time getting to the gate, never once said hello to my mom or acknowledged her, instead, thought I was rude, so she walked about 10 paces ahead , again , didn't attempt to even wait at the door to meet my mom or made sure she got in ok, after seeing my mom back to her room and taking her to the bathroom I attempted to ask the nurse if my mom has been eating her eve meals , was told after I didn't believe her answer, that since I wasn't the POA that she didn't have to tell me diddly sqwat , so I proceeded to leave, I thought to myself, being in healthcare myself, that I wasn't to pleased, that I was never onced asked if my mom had eaten, or if she had taken any meds with her or was SHE the resident in her care, ever still even acknowledged or spoken to....it's obvious, that particular aide doesn't like to get out from behind her cart...and I pity that my mom is under her care.
This is a memory care that after touring you will want to stay. Lovely floor plans in their brand-new cottages. Ample staffing and the Marketing gals-Tracy, Jessica and Jess are lovely and knowledgeable. Call them and take a tour-
My mom has been here about 5 months, and even tho she has been very difficult at times all the staff have been very caring and very informative of her good and bad days. It’s fun seeing them working on getting the residents up snd doing stuff, wish my mom was in better shape, but I love to see the other residents enjoying them. Great place just sad I couldn’t keep her with me.. but this place is the next best thing
My great aunt lives here and I am very impressed. Of course this is a new facility so she hasn't been there long however so far all experiences are excellent. The executive director, director of nursing, and all the care staff have been so great to deal with. They are providing my aunt with the excellent care she deserves and treating her with respect. They are quick to respond with questions and keep me up to date. The facility is very well designed for memory care patients. I highly recommend the Cottages of Spokane!
