My mom has been living in The Cottages of Renton for close to a year and a half and we have been very pleased with the care she has received. I visit 2-3 times a week, my sister once a week and her grandchildren visit frequently on the weekends. I believe this gives me a clear picture of how this place is operated much better than family members who are unable to come as frequently. I see the residents participating in art projects, sing-a-longs, doing puzzles and reading the newspaper and magazines that I bring weekly. There are 3 separate cottages that house residents based on their level of decline. My mom is a bit of a "loner" and always has been but the staff is really good at encouraging her participation in meals and activities. When I arrive for a visit I sometimes see her in the living room by the cozy "fireplace" chatting with others or at the table for meals and activities. Their COVID protocols are impressive and much appreciated and the care delivered by the staff from the front desk to the hands-on caregivers has been excellent. Everyone has been very good at communicating with us about moms needs or concerns. These are trying times for us all and occasionally they have been short staffed but I have never felt she was not receiving the care that she needed. I would recommend considering The Cottages of Renton to families that are in the process of making a very difficult decision on where to place a loved one.

Best decision ever made! As difficult as it was emotionally and financially to arrange for Memory Care for my loved one, Luke, the entire team at Cottages of Renton made it as painless and worry free as possible. Knowing they were meeting his needs enabled more meaningful visits and quality time. Luke was treated with patience and dignity. Their specialized knowledge and application of individualized care plans were most appreciated, as dementia needs are not a one size fits all. The courtyard and cottage layout provided a more intimate and open feel than most facilities. Even after Luke's death, the CoR were supportive and responsive. Great leadership that was reflected in all staff! Thank you for making Luke's final chapter dignified!
My dad has been at the Cottages of Renton for about 3 months now. Our experience has been very positive so far. The staff has kept me updated, day or night, on events if they occur. The home health services like the Nurse Practitioner and Podiatry have been helpful in getting my free time back. The Community Relations and Administrative teams have both been a pleasure to work with, even going as far as letting us use the conference room for an impromptu Easter brunch when our east coast family was in town. We actually have a bit of experience on the non-Memory Care side of the Care Partners network as well when we attempted to move my dad into the Vineyard Park location in Mountlake Terrace back in 2020. The team and facility were wonderful, but it wasn’t a good fit at the time given my dad’s condition. We voluntarily went back to an Adult Family Home to give him more direct oversight and autonomy, then moved into the Cottages of Renton facility 18 months later when a more secure option was needed. I’m incredibly thankful that Memory Care has been an option for my family and the Cottages of Renton is doing a great job filling that need.
I have been working closely with Venetia and Tonya to transfer my dad from Providence Hospital to COR. This is a very detailed and involved process that would have been a huge stress for me if it weren't for these two ladies, Forest and the office staff. They made it easy and oversaw every detail. They were professional yet personable, caring and understanding. I also appreciate the staff and helpers in the B wing where dad is staying. The brief encounters with them left me feeling like they actually care. My hope is this is a place dad can settle in and enjoy. His family appreciates all they do for our elderly and dad. Major bonus, they have a beautiful courtyard that the residence have access to. It had been 6 months since dad had been outside due to his hospital stay. It was nice to get him outside breathing fresh air. A bit chilly but still appreciated.
Great place if you family member does not need medication. They always seem to run short and then have excuses as to why. Great place if your family member enjoys being moved from room to room because new residents want that room. Great place if you like seeing new office staff every time you go to visit. Great place if you enjoy having your family members person items stolen by other residents. Great place if your family member does not require any privacy. Great place as long as your family member enjoys having other residents walk into their room, without knocking any time day or NIGHT. Great place if you family member enjoys having to lock their door just to go out to the restroom.
