The Cottages is a great place with a compassionate and caring team. The management work closely with staff and resident families to provide the best care for their residents. They have a great team of Nurses who work hard and are available at all times when needed. I would totally recommend the Cottages at Mill Creek to anyone looking for a place for their loved one in the south Everett, Mill Creek area.

People always amaze me. Freedom of speech is one thing but slander is another. As a member of this organization, I urge anyone who is looking for a place for their loved one to come in and visit us. Come in unannounced, we've got nothing to hide. Do we have employee turnover, sure, in this industry we all do at different times. I will personally vouch for the Administrator, and the Director of Nursing. They are both knowledgeable and compassionate. The staff that I have interacted with were very nice and kind to the residents as well as myself. There was no smell of urine, feces, or the likes thereof. We could not continue operating if that was indeed the case. We simply have a past employee that did not work out and was let go for the good of our residents. Plain and simple. So, come see for yourself. I think you'd be glad you did.
Avoid putting your loved one here at all costs. I would give it negative stars if I could. My mother would have died here if she had stayed. She lost 20 pounds in two months. The food is slop and they ignored her dietary restrictions. EVERY TIME I came to visit her, she was in soiled undergarments. The notes documented keeping her in her room to avoid interactions with other housemates. They let male housemates come into her room. I often ended up showering her myself on visits because the so-called professionals were unable or unwilling to do it. When we moved her and collected her medications - it turned out they had not been giving her medications regularly, if at all, even though they had marked in her file that they had. Finally they also seem to be perpetuating Medicaid Fraud - by accepting Medicaid $$ as well as charging us privately - every person I spoke to at Medicaid said this was unlawful. The cottages at Mill Creek should be SHUT DOWN!! Your loved ones deserve better than this hell hole.
This place is very frustrating if you actually want to talk to your loved one! It's hard to get through. Most of the time they don't bother answering the phone. They don't return calls when messages are left. When they actually do answer the phone, it's always answered by someone that doesn't know how to transfer calls. I get hung up on constantly when they attempt to transfer it. Or they say they don't know how to so they tell me to call back and they'll let it ring until someone else answers it. They really need to train their employees on how to use the phones. It's kind of an important part of the job!
My mom was a resident here and recently passed. She was hospitalized for 5 days before passing. We did not get one call or inquiry from management. Not one. There were some caring staff during her stay. We are thankful for that. Management was always slow to respond, showed no empathy for any question or concern we raised. Staff turnover is very high. I would not recommend this place for elder or memory care. I think there is some poor and indifferent management going on here.
