We have lived here over 2 years. We have so many nice friends we have gotten to know! We have gotten a little discouraged at times, & thought we would move, but now we have got great management now, that treats us like we are tenants, Calimar hasn’t been that good in getting things done for us!! Everyone seems so much happier with our new family…. They keep things like they should be. Things are changing!! Thank you Emily, Johnette, Marcus & Richard!! Dee& Bill unit 317

We have lived at Grand Estates on Greenwood for over a year. We have had at least 4 to 5 managers and an additional 4 to 5 interim managers in that time period. The occupancy is very low because many residents are unhappy and move out. The construction of the building is poor. The windows are drafty and some don’t lock. Pieces of the stone façade are falling off of the building (see photos) but it hasn’t been repaired even though it has been reported to the corporate office. There is a leak in the community room (again) and since no staff is here on the weekends several residents cleaned up the mess and put buckets under the leak (see photos). The large balcony on the back of the building was closed last year and it had to be reinforced since they didn’t build it correctly. The construction manager from Calamar told us “it just wasn’t pretty enough.” We may be old but we certainly aren’t stupid. Snow removal last weekend after the snow storm was horrible (see attached photos). Even though all of the surrounding apartment communities and businesses had cleared their lots and sidewalks, ours were treacherous (see photos of the handicapped parking space, the sidewalk leading to the handicap ramp (a wheelchair couldn’t even fit on it) and the street near the garages. It was a solid sheet of ice as the roads were not treated. I had to walk through about 6 inches of snow in the front parking lot to get to the front door Saturday evening as NO parking areas and NO sidewalks were cleared except about 10 feet in front of the entry. The following day relatives of residents shoveled sidewalks. We were promised a salon in the building and it was advertised when we moved in. Still no salon. We no longer have a cleaning crew for the hallways and HyVee quit our meal delivery because we were told that management didn’t pay them on time. At least 2 of these reviews were left by a member of the staff and 1 of them was from a resident that moved out. We would recommend you talk to residents first if you are thinking about moving here. We have reported the issues to management multiple times but so far nothing has changed. We hope it improves soon or we will have no other choice but to move.
I've lived here for over 6 years and the residents have truly become my family. As hard as it was to leave my house, it is wonderful to have my apartment maintenance needs taken care of. After difficulty with management we now have a wonderful staff that is supportive and responsive. My apartment is large and I have lots of storage. There are activities for every interest so you can keep busy or pick and choose how much you want to do. You can play cards or other games, enjoy our potlucks, play pool, watch movies in our wonderful theater, attend a Bible study or the book club, exercise, play Bingo, or just socialize with others in our community room or library. There is no better location in Olathe. We are close to the library, shopping, restaurants (I expecially like Dairy Queen), churches, gas stations, etc.
We’ve only been here for a couple of months, but we truly love it here. We sold our house and moved in to be done with the hassle of home ownership. Connect55 has been all we hoped for(no yard work, no stairs, no house repairs) and the great people and activities were a pleasant surprise. We would and are recommending it to anyone we talk to.
I have lived here over two years and I love it. We have had so many improvements in the last few months! Kayleigh is a wonderful manager and truly follows through on all that she promises. We now have a beautiful salon and a room that can be reserved for overnight guests. We have many activities that keep us busy, thanks to Matt our Connect 55 coordinator We have pot lucks and corporate provided lunches! The residents are all very caring, and we are just like one big family.
