Selecting assisted living is a difficult decision. They all have nice foyers, comfy chairs, chef prepared meals and activities. I focused on the employees because they are the ones that will be interacting with your loved one. Commonwealth seems to be above board. The resident to employee ratio is less than the state requirement which is evident in the attention they provide my mother in law. They can get jobs anywhere so when you hear that some have been with Commonwealth for years that tells you a lot about Commonwealth. Other places are constantly advertising "help wanted". The employees in this field do it for a reason. It's not just a paycheck. The good ones will leave. My interactions with the employees at Commonwealth leads me to believe the good ones are staying. The activities are not just word searches and puzzles either. The activities are thoughtful and all day. My MIL is not that sociable but she attends quite a few of the activities. Chef Eric does a cooking demonstration for the residents. Ice cream social every Friday. They even have a resident council which meets monthly and management reacts to the council. Those residents look out for each other. It wasn't easy at first and my MIL still has issues but they are her issues mostly adjusting to assisted living. Commonwealth is doing a great job with her. She said to me, "I don't know what you said to them but they are so nice". I didn't say anything to them. Keep up the good work Commonwealth. Your motto says it all.

If your loved one falls or has reoccurring UTI's do not send them here. The staff in blue are very caring but are understaffed and there is a high turnover. Some of the directors don't follow through and seem to just be there for a paycheck, not for the care of your loved one.
My MIL has been at CDL @ Cedar Manor since Feb 2024. We have nothing but great things to say. Each staff person that we've interacted with has been terrific. The food is plentiful and delicious. There are activities all day, every day. We could not be more pleased.
Specific to the Memory Care side, Im tired of having to explain simple concepts such as teeth brushing and bed making to people that should have learned that in even the most basic of training. Staff needs to pay more attention to spilled drinks, & dining floor mopping. Housekeeping needs some attention. I have supplied toothbrushes that haven’t been touched in a year. I stopped in one time at 9AM and asked about toothbrushing and was told the overnight crew takes care of that when they wake people up. (At 6AM ? And before breakfast? ) We supplied 4 sets of sheets and mattress protectors and have yet to see a proper set consisting of a mattress protector, a fitted sheet, a top sheet when we come to visit. The fitted sheet was once put on crossways instead of lengthwise, HOW does one even do that?!?! I now have a ruined brand new 3 week old mattress-because - no mattress protector, but the icing was that a clean sheet was put on right on top of a stained sheet. Why would you not take that off and put it in the laundry? For a year now, The water in the shower hasn't been able to get up to body temperature, (best it could manage was 82 after running for 10 minutes) so my dad has to be taken to a community shower (that is an organizational sh!t-show). There is either finger pointing OR “we will take care of that” but nothing changes. Weekend staff is usually more busy sitting buried in their phones. Huge Eye-Roll when you ask for something is especially maddening. Of course there are some exceptions, but thats kind of backwards. Cedar Manor is supposedly Commonwealth Senior Living “better” facility, I’d hate to see the more basic options.
The facility was very nice spacious room, clean and neat, my friend living quarter was setup on an studio style single room apartment . Large bathroom. Staff was very pleasant. You must go and see it for you self. Thank you for making my older, mother like figure and my grandkids piano teacher comfortable and safe.
